Sally Kirkland was uninhibited, sensual, everyone's best friend, and could out-talk anyone in Hollywood, where talking is an Olympic sport. My "formal" interview of her was, appropriately enough, in a bed, where she had to be told that nudity under the covers wasn't necessary (hardcore Actors Studio), but what I remember best is what she told me right after her close friend Lana Clarkson was murdered by Phil Spector: "This town destroys pretty women."
