A trucker left his dog chained to the side of a Peterbilt in a downpour. Not for a minute. An hour. Maybe longer. The dog is on the battery box, soaked, then jumps into the standing water and runs the length of the leash like it is trying to get out of its own skin. The cab is right there. The driver is not. The door says Diamond Express, Spearman, Texas. USDOT 3968735. That number is on the truck for a reason. Companies do not get to hide behind a logo while a dog sits in the rain like cargo. You do not bring an animal on the road so you can park it outside while you eat. Call the company. Call animal control where this lot is. Make them answer for it. H/t Bonehead Truckers

A grown man is on trial in Vegas, accused of yanking Peachy, a 27 year old flamingo, out of his hotel habitat. On the stand he said 30 to 40 beers was "a realistic estimate" and called it a "silly pranky joke." He admitted lying to security that he'd grabbed an injured animal to get it help. The vet testified Peachy lost 7 or 8 feathers, needed weeks of pain meds, and that neck hold could have killed him. The curator said his mate Bugsy didn't stop calling for him the entire day. Peachy pulled through. Mitchell Fairbarn, 34, is charged with 2 felony counts of animal cruelty. Closings are Monday, then the jury decides. Joke or felony? Video: 8 News Now

Somebody tied a dog to two cinder blocks and dumped it in the water in Miami. The video is all over social media. The dog floating just under the surface, still tied down. The person who posted it says it was found on a sunken sailboat. Miami PD says it's a suspected animal abuse case in Coconut Grove. Detectives are working leads to find who did this. No suspect yet. That dog trusted someone. This is what it got. If you know anything, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. You can stay anonymous and you could get up to $5,000. Somebody knows. Make the call. Video: WSVN 7News

Someone wrapped a puppy and kitten in plastic, bound them tight, and dumped them in thick mud to die. They couldn’t move. Couldn’t cry out. Just two tiny bodies sinking while some monster walked away. Rescuers dug them out covered head to toe, washed the filth and bindings off, fed them, and now they’re safe, eating side by side and sleeping curled up together. Whoever did this is pure evil. There is no excuse.

At 8:46:40, America was attacked. American Airlines Flight 11 hit the North Tower. If you were alive that morning, you remember the second the sky changed. Hijackers flew a passenger jet into World Trade Center 1. People were at work. People were starting their day. Fire and smoke tore through Lower Manhattan. We do not forget. We do not bury it. Remember them. H/t 9/11 Commission Report

This is from August 2019 in Victorville, CA, but every pet owner needs to see it. The owners hired a sitter through Rover. Their home camera caught her slamming Lucy, their 10 week old goldendoodle, onto the floor. The owner was watching live and told her to get out. Rover banned her for good and offered to pay the vet bills. Animal Control investigated. No charges were ever reported. Lucy somehow had no broken bones. If somebody's alone with your animal, put a camera up. Read every review. Do a trial visit while you're home. Would you ever trust a sitter app again? Video: ABC7 Los Angeles

Las Vegas Metro cop kicks his own K9 twice on camera. August 11 near Tropicana and Boulder Highway. Officers respond to a reported shooting that never happened. Video shows the handler struggling with his barking dog, then planting his boot into the animal twice before dragging it toward the patrol car. A woman stands nearby with her hands up. LVMPD says they are “aware.” That’s it so far. No name released. No discipline announced. These dogs run into gunfire and knives for us. They don’t get to quit when it gets hard. A handler who kicks his partner has no business wearing the badge or holding a leash. Fire him. Investigate him. And make damn sure that dog is never put back with this guy. Sgt. Sean Duffy, B-52 Crew Chief at Minot Air Force Base, got caught on Ring camera beating the hell out of his wife’s English Mastiffs, Maui and Scout. Swinging what looks like a bat at those big gentle dogs inside base housing. Footage from May 2025 shows it clear as day. The dogs cowering. Wife installed the cameras because their behavior changed. She reported it. Supervisors sat on their hands until the video went viral. One year later this clown is still in uniform. No public charges. No discharge. Air Force just shrugged. Dogs are safe now with their mom hundreds of miles away. One of his cats got adopted out. The other one is still stuck with him last I checked. This is pure cowardice from the system. A man trusted with nuclear bombers can’t be trusted with a dog, and they leave him in the ranks. Animal abusers don’t belong in the military. Period. H/t Paul Mueller for keeping the pressure on.

Chilly was only supposed to be a foster. Then Brian's daughter decided otherwise. A family took in a rescue cat named Chilly with plans to foster him until he found a permanent home. His new video shows him looking up at his rescuer, crying, even after he was already safe. That was enough. Brian's daughter wasn't letting him go anywhere. A "just fostering" plan lasted about as long as it takes a kid to fall in love with a cat. Some fosters were never going anywhere else. H/t Follow Chilly's story on Instagram and TikTok: Brian O.

Isaiah David O’Neal-Sapp got caught on camera in Seattle November 2024 strangling and punching a pitbull named Angel inside taxpayer funded homeless housing on Capitol Hill. Judge cut him loose with no bail. Now at 20 he sits in custody after arrest in Buckley on rape, robbery, and escape charges out of King County. It almost always starts with the animals. Soft judges and weak systems let predators walk until the victims have names and voices. Glad they finally locked this one up. H/t KING 5 News for the new arrest. A starved mare fought through a pregnancy her own body could barely support. Three months later, she had a foal named Astro to show for it. Northern Utah, Karma Ranch. Noelle Lynne pulled a mare from a Texas horse auction, dangerously malnourished, eating moldy hay, and pregnant on top of it. She named her Aurora. Lynne spent 89 nights at the barn with her, some until sunrise, working to gain her trust while Aurora's body cannibalized its own muscle and bone just to keep the pregnancy alive. Over 260,000 people around the world followed Aurora's story online, waiting with Lynne night after night. At 1am on June 13, Aurora gave birth to a healthy foal. Lynne named him Astro. Lynne says 25,000 horses got shipped to slaughter from America last year alone, and thousands more sit in kill pens right now waiting on the same fate Aurora barely escaped. Aurora fought through starvation to bring a healthy foal into the world. Most horses in her position never get the chance. H/t FOX 13 Utah

This golden retriever was dumped on the street looking like death. Skinny as a rail. Fur falling out in patches from mange. Runny eyes. So thin the woman who found her could wrap one hand around her waist. Most dogs in that shape would have been broken. Birdie walked right up to the people who stopped for her. No fear. No bite. Just trust. They took her in. Treated the mange. Fed her. Gave her a bath that turned the water black. Quarantined her so she wouldn’t spread it. Then one day they let her inside a house for the first time. She didn’t know what to do with herself. Zoomies. Tail going. Pure joy. A few months later that same dog is thick, shiny, and living in a real home with people who actually want her. Some pieces of garbage left her to rot. Good people refused to walk past. That’s the difference. H/t The Dodo and her foster mom Kelsey.

At 10:03:11, United Airlines Flight 93 crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. The passengers fought back. If that was your flight, you would already be out of your seat. Hijackers took the plane. Ordinary Americans charged the cockpit. The jet went down in a field instead of into another target in our capital. America was attacked. Heroes answered. We remember Flight 93. Five dogs were baking in a Newport Beach car with the windows barely cracked. Most were locked in cages and already in distress. An officer smashed the window and pulled them out. Their body temperatures were high enough to kill them. Owner got a misdemeanor citation. All five survived. Three are still waiting for homes at the Newport Beach Animal Shelter. Leaving dogs to cook in a car is not a mistake. It is a choice. H/t Newport Beach PD / KTLA

A mama dog and her five puppies got dumped at a South Carolina car wash with the mother muzzled and the babies stuffed in a bag. Animal control picked them up and took them to a shelter. A week later the place ran out of room and put the whole family on the euthanasia list. A couple from Savannah saw the post, drove over the same day, and pulled them out. Mama is named Kiara. The pups are about five or six weeks old and all doing fine now. Whoever left them like that is pure garbage. These people stepped up and gave the family a real shot. Good on the Greens. More of that, less of the other. H/t USA TODAY

They didn't know what a terrorist attack was. They just knew people needed finding, so they went in. Nearly 300 search and rescue dogs worked Ground Zero, the Pentagon, and Shanksville in the days after September 11. Labradors, German Shepherds, Golden Retrievers, dogs with names like Bretagne, Riley, and Trakr, climbing over unstable rubble that was still hot underneath, breathing in the same toxic dust that would go on to kill firefighters years later. Handlers said the dogs got depressed when days went by without finding anyone alive, so rescuers started hiding in the rubble themselves just so the dogs could have a save and keep their spirits up to keep working. Bretagne was the last known 9/11 search dog. She worked sixteen years after the towers fell before she passed in 2016, and a line of firefighters stood and saluted her on her way into the vet's office for the final time. These dogs didn't get asked to go. They just went, because that's what they were built to do, and they gave everything they had looking for people who were already gone. Twenty five years on, they deserve to be remembered by name same as anybody else who ran toward it that day.

Terrance Banks poured gasoline across his own kitchen floor, lit it, and left 15 dogs to burn, some still locked in their crates. Geneva, Florida, Seminole County. Banks, 40, told deputies he poured gasoline inside his home on Snow Hill Road Monday morning and set it on fire. He claimed he had 19 dogs in the house; investigators could only account for 18. Some were crated and had no way out. Crews pulled seven more bodies from the debris Tuesday, bringing the death toll to 15. Only three dogs survived, all pit bull mixes, two of them in critical condition getting round-the-clock oxygen care from Seminole County Animal Services. One more is still loose in the neighborhood, spotted but not yet caught. "It's really sad for law enforcement to see this type of activity and to see the animals just left inside while the house is burning," said emergency services director Alan Harris. Banks faces at least 11 counts of animal cruelty and an arson charge, with more counts expected. He was arrested the afternoon of September 28 and held without bond Tuesday. His attorney is asking for a mental evaluation. Court records show a 2021 domestic violence arrest, and his own parents told investigators that during a 2020 argument, he threatened to burn their house down. Fifteen dogs, some in cages, no way out. Charge every count this evidence supports. H/t WESH, WFTV, Click Orlando

A witness says a Bay County Animal Control worker stuck a second needle into a live kitten during its euthanasia, then laughed about it. Cameron Howard, 36, is charged with two counts of animal cruelty and one count of aggravated animal cruelty. An anonymous tip said he had been torturing animals and bragging about it. A witness told investigators he drew fluid from that kitten's stomach, spilled it, then injected it back. The drug paralyzes, the witness says, so the kitten may have felt pain it could not show. Witnesses say he hit a dog in the spine with a catch pole, and swung another dog, still on its pole, over his shoulder into the ground. The county fired him Tuesday. These animals came in needing mercy. Witnesses say they got Cameron Howard. H/t: WJHG

Tucker Budzyn did not just make videos. He made millions of people kinder for a few minutes a day. Eight years. A golden retriever with a chicken habit and a face that sold joy without asking permission. Kids who never had a dog treated him like one. Adults who were tired of the news still stopped for a golden on a porch. That is reach most politicians would kill for, and he did it by being a good dog. Courtney and Mike let the world borrow him. That is the part people forget. They did not owe us the walks, the spa days, the son named Todd, or the last hard week. They shared him anyway. When he left on September 2, it felt like a family dog died in a hundred thousand houses at once. That is not branding. That is what happens when people feel connected. He is gone. The clips are not. Play them for a kid who needs a laugh. Rest easy, Tucker. H/t Tucker Budzyn

UPDATE: A sergeant left two K9s locked in his patrol car for nearly seven hours. Both of them died before anyone found them. Salem County, New Jersey. Sgt. Cody Henderson worked a full shift on May 29 with K9 Boomer and K9 Rip sealed inside his vehicle. The windows were shut and the emergency system built to lower them automatically if the temperature spiked had, investigators found, been turned off. Both dogs died of heat stroke. Henderson was placed on paid administrative leave, then charged with animal cruelty. In court this week, prosecutors offered him a plea deal with probation and restitution. His attorney turned it down. It's headed to a grand jury now. Two working dogs trusted a sergeant to bring them home at the end of a shift. He left them to cook instead, then said no to the deal that would have ended it quietly. H/t 6abc Philadelphia
