Somali Salt Industry, During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, European colonial rule changed the existing Somali salt trade. In Italian Somaliland, salt production became more industrialized. The Hafun (Dante) salt works, developed in the 1930s, became a major commercial enterprise, producing large quantities of salt for export to markets including India and the Far East. British Somaliland relied mainly on traditional salt production around Zeila, with salt traded inland toward Ethiopia. Khadra Dahir Cige was one of the most famous Somali female singers of the 1970s. Born in Hargeisa in 1957, she joined the Waaberi music troupe in 1974 and became renowned for her powerful love songs and emotional performances. She was often called “Hooyada Jacaylka” (Mother of Love) and remains a celebrated figure in Somali music. RIP, She passed away in 2022 at the age of 65.

Odkac or Muqmad? traditional somali oil preserved meat but make it quick boiled, washed then fried in oil and ghee we use vegetable stock powder instead of salt for more flavour, personal preference but we'll never go back cinnamon, cardamom and ghee to finish same taste, fraction of the time.
