This sums up my trust in AI. Yesterday, I had to drill out a 10-32 stainless screw that had broken off. “Hey Grok, what is the drill size for a 10-32 tap.” “It’s a #21 drill bit [and Grok decides to… elaborate]. Some machinists will step it up to a #22 drill bit in harder metals to make the tapping easier.” “Grok, you understand a #22 drill bit is smaller than a #21, right?” “You’re right, my bad, I should have checked, but my answer to your actual question is still right.” “How long would it have taken you to check your answer?” “Microseconds, but it was an offhand comment that I didn’t check with the normal safeguards.” Commercial AI is nothing more than a very smart 7 year old. Trust it at your peril.
