Imagine going for scuba diving and discovering Alexander gazing at you from the deep.. This is a video shot by a Greek diver in Crete; during his underwater spear-fishing he found a bust of Alexander. Nevertheless, I’m not sure this is ancient.. too good to be true.

Was Alexander the OG penguin? This a partial extract of his speech towards his soldiers when they mutinied.

Sofia Loren singing in Greek is one of the most beautiful things I saw today.. this video is pure nostalgia! Her beauty is stunning but her accent is almost impeccable.. I almost thought it was a voice-over! The song is “Ti Einai Afto Pou to Lene Agapi” (“What Is This That They Call Love?”) in the 1957 film Boy on a Dolphin. This was one of the first major Hollywood movies shot in Greece, on locations like the island of Hydra - one of my favorite destinations!

This will make you fell like escaping the city and for a simpler life! This awesome folklore performance blew my mind; it’s traditional Greek music from Epirus, ancestral Hellenic land. Here you see 3 generations of Greeks singing.. can you see grandma reminiscing her youth?

Today is the official Remembrance Day for the Pontic Greek Genocide by the turks! The events (roughly 1914–1923) involved systematic killings, deportations, death marches, and forced labor targeting civilian Christian Greeks, especially in Pontus (Black Sea region), Asia Minor, and Thrace. Estimates for Pontic Greeks alone range from hundreds of thousands killed, with broader Greek victims in the region often cited around 1 million (including deaths and displacements). This occurred amid the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, World War I, and the Greco-Turkish War. It is worth noting that turkey is accused of 3 major genocides (Armenian, Assyrian and Greek), more than any other state worldwide. Commemorations happen annually in Greece, the Greek diaspora, and among allied communities (e.g., Armenian groups). This is a video by panigirizo where Pontic Greeks practice an ancient war-dance named Pyrichios.

In the solemn darkness of Holy Friday, Orthodox Greece gathers in profound mourning for Her crucified Lord. The Epitaphs — adorned with fragrant spring flowers as a final act of love — are lifted upon the shoulders of the faithful and carried through the silent streets. Thousands of candles flicker like tears in the night, while ancient hymns of lament rise into the heavens: the sorrowful voice of the Holy Mary weeping for her divine Son. No joy is yet permitted. No Resurrection hymns are sung. Only mourning — deep, collective, and timeless. From the bustling avenues of Athens to the quiet mountain villages and the wave-kissed shores of the islands, Greece walks behind the funeral bier of Christ as one body, one heart, one sorrow. The video is from the town of Nafpaktos, by Mary_Tsim and Discover Greece. Awesome work!
