Jaxon Wiggins has begun working out of the bullpen. His three outings: 1.0 IP | 0 R | 1 BB | 2 K 1.0 IP | 0 R | 2 BB | 1 K 1.0 IP | 0 R | 0 BB | 2 K He’s posted a 41.7% K% and 35.0% Whiff% out of the pen, though his command has been very spotty.

BREAKING: the Chicago Cubs are acquiring RHP Clay Holmes and OF Tyrone Taylor from the New York Mets, per Jon Heyman. They are sending No. 2 prospect Jefferson Rojas as the return. The deal is pending medicals.

Kane Kepley stole his 50th base of the season tonight. It took him just 91 games to reach the mark. He also hit his 7th home run of the season. Both videos below ⬇️

Cade Horton is already sitting 96 and touching 98 this spring, per Sahadev Sharma. He averaged 95.7 mph on the fastball last year during a 2.67 ERA, NL ROY runner-up campaign.

Japanese star Kazuma Okamoto is projected to get a 3 year, $36 million MLB contract by ESPN’s Kiley McDaniel. Okamoto posted a 210 wRC+ with elite bat-to-ball skills on display on top of his .598 slug. In 2025 he played 52 games at 3B, 27 games at 1B and 15 games in LF in 2024.

Since 2024, there have been 27 batted balls hit between 108-109 mph at a 32° LA. 25 of those 27 went for HR and they averaged 419 ft. Yesterday, Ian Happ hit a ball 108.5 mph at a 32° LA, but it only went 320 ft. The wind was not friendly at Wrigley on Opening Day.

The Cubs are promoting top prospect Josiah Hartshorn to Double-A, per Chase Ford. The 19-year-old has 23 home runs and a .939 OPS across two levels this season. Only two 19-year-olds have taken an at-bat in Double-A this season.

Christian Bethancourt (yes, that Christian Bethancourt) threw 2.0 scoreless innings for the I-Cubs tonight. He recorded a strikeout and topped out at 95.0 mph on his fastball.

Daniel Palencia sat 100.4 mph and topped out at 102.0 mph in his outing with Iowa tonight. The Cubs should have a key piece in their bullpen back in the mix very soon.

Jaxon Wiggins’ rehab outing in High-A tonight: 3.2 IP | 2 H | 0 R | 0 BB | 4 K 57 pitches, 39 strikes The Cubs No. 3 prospect is working his way back, and looks good.

Shelby Miller last pitched in the bigs on September 1st of last season before undergoing TJS. Just 11 months later, he has made six rehab outings, is throwing harder than he did last season, and has a 40.0% K%. Nearing a major-league return. Absolutely remarkable.

A short preview of new Cubs reliever, Ryan Zeferjahn’s stuff:

A slowed-down close-up of Tatsuya Imai’s gyro-spin slider, a pitch that can generate arm-side movement. It will be one of MLB’s most unique pitches next season and generated a 47% whiff rate in 2025.

Pete Crow-Armstrong's bat speed is up early in 2026. So far, it's sitting at 76.2 mph, a 3.5 mph increase from 2025 and the largest jump in MLB. It's a small sample, but a trend worth following.

The Cubs are signing right-handed reliever Trent Thornton, per Tread Athletics. Thornton missed time with injury in 2025, but in 2024 he was excellent, posting a 3.61 ERA across 72.1 innings. He’s got some filth, a 108 Stuff+ in 2024, including three different fastball looks.

Cubs 2026 10th-round pick Luke Alwood made his pro debut with Myrtle Beach tonight. He pitched 2.0 scoreless innings, struck out five, and walked none. His fastball was up to 99 mph.

The Cubs drafted Kane Kepley in the 2nd round of the 2025 draft. Since then, he’s appeared in 52 pro games between A/A+. Over that span, he’s… Reached base 119 times Walked 23 more times than he’s struck out Stolen 30 bases in 35 attempts

Players with 20+ home runs, 70+ RBI, and an .800+ OPS in each of the last four seasons: Shohei Ohtani Kyle Schwarber Bryce Harper Seiya Suzuki Seiya is one of the most underrated players in the sport. All 95 of his homers over that span:

Tyrone Taylor’s MLB ranks since June 28 (min. 100 PA): .381 AVG - 1st .445 OBP - 1st .711 SLG - 1st .488 wOBA - 1st 215 wRC+ - 1st

Cubs trade deadline acquisition update: Clay Holmes 29.0 IP | 1.55 ERA | 1.00 WHIP | .196 BAA Kevin Gausman 35.0 IP | 4.37 ERA | 1.14 WHIP | .237 BAA Ryan Zeferjahn 11.0 IP | 6.55 ERA | 1.55 WHIP | .289 BAA Tyrone Taylor .408/.455/.551 | 5 XBH | 8 RBI | 181 wRC+

Pete Crow-Armstrong is tied for the MLB lead with eight go-ahead or game-tying hits in the 7th inning or later this season. Here are all eight hits:

The average Pull-Air% in MLB this season is 18.4%. Since adjusting his swing, Pete Crow-Armstrong has posted a 42.5% Pull-Air%, the highest mark in MLB. He also leads baseball with 24 home runs over that span. Here is each one of them:

Seiya Suzuki’s 4.6 fWAR ranked 5th among primary outfielders this season. He slashed .270/.368/.473 with 26 home runs. Additionally, he had the best defensive season of his career, with +14 DRS and +8 FRV. Would be a big hole to fill if he walks in free agency.

Edward Cabrera’s rehab outing with Iowa: 4.0 IP | 1 H | 1 R (0 ER) | 0 BB | 8 K 55 pitches, 41 strikes He generated 11 whiffs on 30 swings (37%), sat 97.4 mph on his FF, and located very well.

Pete Crow-Armstrong’s least probable catches from the 2025 season

Cubs 2025 first rounder Ethan Conrad faced Trevor Bauer in live ABs on Bauer’s YouTube channel. He had a couple really impressive swings.

.Jon Heyman on the Cubs spending habits: (Via Bleacher Report)

Pete Crow-Armstrong’s June ranks: 1st in Hits (26) T-1st in HR (8) 3rd in AVG (.406) 1st in ISO (.500) 1st in SLG (.906) 1st in wOBA (.555) 1st in OPS (1.341) 1st in wRC+ (263) Each of his 14 June XBH:

Pitchers to make 25+ starts and have a 3.80 ERA or lower in each of the last three seasons: Christopher Sánchez Logan Gilbert Shota Imanaga He’s had his ups and downs with the Cubs, but Shota has continued to produce for them year after year.

Pete Crow-Armstrong’s NL ranks: 33 HR (4th) 32 SB (2nd) .559 SLG (1st) .399 wOBA (1st) 156 wRC+ (1st) 8.7 fWAR (1st) 23 OAA (1st) 24 FRV (1st) This is your MVP.

Including Pete Crow-Armstrong, there are 21 players with a 140 wRC+ or higher this season. PCA’s Fielding Run Value is 27 runs better than the other 20 players combined. His ability to impact the game at an elite level both at the plate and in the field is truly remarkable.

After last night, Pete Crow-Armstrong is on pace for 8.7 fWAR this season. That would be the highest mark by a Cubs position player since Sammy Sosa posted 9.9 fWAR in 2001.

Every pitch PCA saw on May 24th, the day he says was the turning point for him.

Moisés Ballesteros pinch hit in the 7th inning today. He had two at-bats, saw three total pitches, and hit two doubles. Through 57 ABs: .392/.439/.647 — 202 wRC+ 3 HR | 9 R | 11 RBI 17.5% K% | 8.8% BB% Mo can ball.

George Kirby may be available, and the Cubs should be involved. My proposal: Cubs receive: George Kirby Mariners receive: Matt Shaw Kane Kepley (CHC No. 5) James Triantos (CHC No. 11) It’s a steep price, but Kirby is under team control through 2028 and has shown flashes of ace-level production.

I’m not sure any hitter benefits more from ABS than Seiya Suzuki
