There can be no true prayer without a recognition of the sovereignty and distinction of the one whom we have come to. God is hallowed and self sufficient, we are not — God is eternal and all powerful, whilst we are mere mortals uncertain of the next moment. Whatever precludes us from looking above, in great need and dependence on God will rob us of our true treasure and hope in this life, the delights and comforts that springs from communion with our Father in heaven.
