Mikel Arteta on Viktor Gyökeres: "These are moments in a player's career, or in a season, I would say. And we are trying to help him as much as possible. The other day, I think he had some very good moments. "He's 3 or 4 times in front of goal with no keeper, and the ball should arrive to him and it doesn't. And then maybe you're talking about something else, but these are the strikers. It's very small margins, scoring or not scoring changes the narrative, for sure, not the perception of how much he can help the team."

Mikel Arteta on William Saliba missing the team photo: "So what happened was that we have tried to do that picture 3 times already and we have to cancel it last minute for different reasons. And we have some obligation, commercial obligation. "We have people that came and fly over to do that. So we decided to do that picture at least. We will have another picture when, with the whole family. Hopefully we can get them all together at some point, one day, and I will announce that as well."

Arteta asked about Eberechi Eze having started only two games this season and not coming off the bench at the weekend, and whether he wants more from him: "Like everybody else, I think they need to earn their rights to play, and that's through training sessions. And when you are on that pitch, to make the impact that the game and the team needs in order to achieve that. And he's going to have many opportunities to do that. His attitude has been always phenomenal, and we have to adapt as well to his qualities."

🗣️ Mikel Arteta speaking in Italian on the risk of defending one-v-one against Højlund: "There is a risk, but it also means that if they have one free player in defence, we have an extra player somewhere else on the pitch. "Against a low block like that, we have to take that risk. We have defenders who can deal with that situation. "It’s true that there were two situations today where we had a little bit of luck, but this is a risk that we take because we want to be dominant, and without doing that, it’s not easy."

Mikel Arteta on Myles Lewis-Skelly's versatility: "Yes, we just discussed that a few days ago, because we had a doubt. When a player is in such a good moment playing a certain position, to change him is not ideal. But we had injury with Piero and we knew that at some point we're going to need it with the schedule that we have. "He responded incredibly well. I think he had a big performance the other night, and that shows you the maturity, the capacity to adapt, the intelligence of the player, and he's in a really good moment." Then asked: "What do you then discuss with him before, depending on where he's going to play?" "Well, we always made him aware, especially when we have some thoughts, to be prepared and to understand first of all the role and to understand the things that he needs to dominate in that specific game. "And he's very open. He knows that as well. Being able to play in different positions as a 6, as an 8, as a full-back is going to open more possibilities to play. And that's a massive asset. And he's got the capacity to do that."

🗣️ Mikel Arteta on Mikel Merino and Viktor Gyökeres performing well internationally: "Well, the first reaction is, 'What am I doing? They don't do this!' Or, 'I haven't given them the opportunity to do this.' That's a natural one, you know. "And then you obviously are really happy. "I was talking to Mikel the day before he played his last game. I said, 'Mikel, do you remember before you came to us, I think you used to score one goal every 13 games for the national team? Since you've been here, you score one in every 93 minutes.' "And then he scored two the next evening, so this number is even down. "I'm very happy that they are able to help their national teams. I haven't done it, but it should be one of the best feelings to represent your country and do it in such a way."

Mikel Arteta on scoring from open play: "Again, I mean, we are getting criticised for scoring goals, you know, regardless of in the manner that we score them. The team is showing a great attacking flow. I think we scored some beautiful goals. The value of the goals is exactly the same. So I think we have to be a team that is able to score in many ways, and I will make it harder for the opponent."

🗣️ Mikel Arteta on Bukayo Saka getting into more goalscoring positions: "That's where we need to get him. And if he misses the chance, so be it. At the end, the more volume we generate, the bigger the probability of him scoring more goals. "And he's been getting into great positions. He's getting shots, he's getting one-touch finishes, tap-ins. And that's the kind of unpredictability that we have created with that player, because otherwise we know how the opponents are going to protect him. "And he's doing great. And he could have another four or five goals by now, easily. But if he continues like that, we know. "So when he talks about, 'I want to score a certain amount of goals', he needs to be thinking about scoring a certain amount of goals per game, in terms of where he wants to be at the end of the season. "And if that shifts that mentality, he will get into those positions and score more goals." 🎙️ Is that the next evolution for Saka? 🗣️ Arteta: "Yeah, for sure. And he can do that."

🗣️ Mikel Arteta on Viktor Gyökeres' determination to make an impact from the bench: "I think the same as when Bruno came in, or Jurriën came in, or Piero came in on that pitch, you could sense that they were desperate to help and impact the team. "It's not towards me. I make the decisions based on what I think is better in the moment to increase the probability of winning the match and being superior to the opponent. "That's it. And the moment that I decide to change three players is to have an outcome effect immediately. "And they've been phenomenal at doing that. If that's what they need, that fuel inside them, so be it, because I'm sure it's going to help the team."

🗣️ Mikel Arteta on Eze's impact: "We knew that he could create an action. He created three actions that he put people almost looking at the goalkeeper one-against-one, but as well I have to trust him. "When they make the rotation, especially on the right-hand side, and Cash’s goal last year he lost him, we conceded the goal - and this year, I think he learned a lesson because every time something was happening he was at it, and I think he helped the team in a great way."

Arteta on whether Ødegaard's advanced positions were by instruction: Arteta: "Yes, because he can. We have now a lot of players, that can take the ball there and can progress the ball much better than, than we did in the past. And when that happens, he needs to take different heights and angles and positions in order to disorganise the opponent, and he's done that really well tonight."

🗣️ Thomas Tuchel on Myles Lewis-Skelly’s performance in his first start in midfield for England: “That’s why he made an impression in club football and now through the week. That’s why he got his start. "No presents here for no one, also not on his birthday. It was his birthday today. He did very well for Arsenal in this position. "I think it suits him a bit better than left-back. He was just very good and had a good match today, so well done. "Did everything that was needed. Good performance.”

Kai Havertz on cutting his summer short: "I didn't text him (Arteta), to be fair. We texted during the holiday time, but I think for me it was perfect. Three weeks off, and now I only lost like one week. They started one week or two weeks before me, so I'm back for the first official game, and I feel good, so I'm happy to be back now."

![🗣️ Mikel Arteta on if he would reconsider the warm-downs: "The temptation is now we don’t want to take that risk, and we’ll do something else, but we were going to do that anyway the next day. "When you play these kind of small-sided games, there is contact, and these things happen. They didn’t happen once last season and we did it 37 times I think, so the fact that it’s there, that people are watching and then they think it raises other doubts. "But now it’s very difficult to do. [The] question was if we had to do this again, the way we planned the seven days that we had in that period with the players that didn’t have enough load, would it have been the case? The answer is yes, and it’s a contact sport and this can happen. "What we can do is [say] “guys, they are so competitive, when we do that, please don’t touch each other too much,” to avoid these kind of things, so that’s it."](https://image.24vids.com/tw-2109767372978704542/amplify_video_thumb/2109767222541578240/img/Gzsu2OEzDX1UUtVH.jpg)

🗣️ Mikel Arteta on Bruno Guimaraes price tag, his improvement and the standards expected at Arsenal: "Yeah, but he wasn't at that level against Brighton, and this is the level for Arsenal. "Every week, every game, every minute, every action, you have to be at that level. "At Brighton he wasn't, and today he was much better. He can still be much better than in the games that he's done, and that's what we have to demand. "This is what I demand of myself. I'm going to demand the same of the players because if we do that, we will raise the standards and we'll be a better team."

![🗣️ Gabriel Magalhaes on his partnership with Ezri Konsa: “Since he’s arrived at Arsenal, I think he’s adapted really quickly. He’s a top player and I really enjoy playing with him. We have the best centre-backs at Arsenal. “We want to increase the level and we know he’s quality, and of course since he’s arrived, he’s played and I think we did well. Of course it’s different because I play with Saliba, we’ve played together for three or four years, so we’ve improved a lot these years. “I think with Ezri it’s just the beginning. I think he’ll enjoy being here with us. We have a lot to improve, but I think we’re on the right track. He’s a good player, he’s a good person, it’s easy to be with him every day. He’s smart, [a] good guy, I think it’s natural so we enjoy [playing together].”](https://image.24vids.com/tw-2109771032563421259/amplify_video_thumb/2109770911293554688/img/TN3RxH2weV6OMx47.jpg)

Arteta after Champions League final defeat: “I would take a few days with my family and they will start the process to review what we've done, to start to make some very important decisions if we want to reach another level. “And we're going to have to show that ambition because we are more than capable of doing it, but it's going to demand to be very, very ambitious, very fast and very smart.”
