"What is civilisation?" Contemporary political debates often deem decisions based on instinct rather than rationality illegitimate or even outright dangerous. The truth is that, while civilisation, nation, and region can obviously be explained theoretically and conceptually, many right-wingers do not need such explanations to understand who they are, both politically and ethnoculturally. Many right-wingers run into difficulties during debates with leftists who often seek to deconstruct and thereby delegitimise ethnocultural identities in the West. Leftists will frequently attempt to ridicule the idea of exclusive ethnocultural identities by asking questions such as: “When is someone truly German?” or “What is German culture, anyway?” Culture, heritage, and the behaviours associated with them cannot, however, be fully rationalised in this dialectical manner. By engaging on those terms alone, one has already accepted a framework that puts the odds against them in a debate. For many on the left, subconscious realities of the human condition, such as an innate in-group bias, are not considered legitimate arguments. Instead, they tend to attribute such behaviour exclusively to social norms and learned social dynamics. Yet evidence from developmental psychology shows that in-group biases emerge very early in life and are not the product of later socialisation. This understanding of the human condition forms the basis of a broader disagreement. Many left-wing ideologies seek to minimise or overcome inherited norms and hierarchies, while it is clear that such hierarchies and group attachments are natural features of human societies. The violence committed by socialist regimes is the destructive consequences that follows left-wing political movements which attempt to radically reshape human nature. This is why attempts to rationalise instinct entirely, or to explain identity solely through abstract concepts, are unnecessary when dealing with those who deny obvious realities. Civilisation is not merely an intellectual construct. It is something lived, inherited, and recognised long before it is formally defined. So to answer the original question ("What is civilisation?") in the words of Kenneth Clark: "I don't know. I can't define it in abstract terms, yet. But I think I can recognise it when I see it. And I'm looking at it now."

What is Ave Europa? Ave Europa is a right-wing European federalist movement seeking to overcome what it sees as a false dilemma in contemporary right-wing politics: No European should be forced to choose between supporting mainstream conservatives, who are pro-Ukraine and pro-European but at the same time fail to address non-European mass migration, or the Dissident Right, which promises to secure the borders and address immigration but at the same time is neutralist or pro-Russian. The only consistent position, in our view, is to be pro-Ukraine, pro-European, and opposed to non-European mass migration. In the short term, Ave Europa seeks to promote this position by acting as a pressure group. We advocate for strict migration policies within the political mainstream while challenging the foreign policy positions of the Dissident Right. In the long term, our goal is to participate in the 2029 European Parliament elections and field our own candidates. Our first federal General Assembly, held in May this year, attracted nearly 100 people, and we are just getting started.
