To beat the extreme heat today in Pittsburgh I kayaked mostly shaded Pine Creek. Dug 22 pounds of trash out of the mud including an aluminum bat, vintage glass bottles, various plastics and loads of sharp broken glass. Don't step barefoot into a river or creek, trust me👌

When a car's wrecked, does it sit on the side of our roads for years, decades? Of course not. But when a boat sinks, we seem to throw up our hands and say, oh well🤷♂️ Why are we unable(or unwilling) to hold the boat owner accountable for removal? On today's hike in Pittsburgh's North Park I passed this secluded and trashed out grove. Finished my hike, drove to the nearest access spot 100 yards away & cleaned up the mess. Beer cans, dog poo bags, and water bottles...even when surrounded by nature, people just don't care.

65 pounds of trash removed from Pittsburgh's Ohio River today. I planned on kayaking, but the water levels are so low that I simply walked off the launch site and cleaned up about 150 yards of shoreline by foot. 2 bags of litter, 58 plastic bottles & a broken dinosaur bucket

Removed my 525th bag of litter from Clearwater's Stevenson Creek today. That includes over 11,000 plastic bottles & over 10,000 pounds of trash removed from just 1 mile of creek since May 2022. Seeing this creek cleaned up & transformed has been worth every second of hard work

Yesterday I pulled a sleeping bag & blanket out of the mud. Two other sleeping bags are still stuck in the mud in just a 20 yard area. This location was home to a large encampment along Pittsburgh's Ohio River removed last fall and the damage to our rivers is often significant.

After removing those 12 tires yesterday, I spent an hour cleaning up this shoreline on Pittsburgh's Ohio River. 95 heavy pounds of trash paddled out, 2 full bags of litter, 52 plastic bottles, a garbage can & a muddy bucket filled with other random junk. An endless mess.

Scenes like this are commonplace on Clearwater's Stevenson Creek. High tide pushes all of our litter into mostly hidden and often hard to access areas where it simply builds over time. My kayak allows me access to these hard to reach spots. Another full bag of trash removed today

I reported the mess under the Betty Lane bridge. The City cleaned it up and now took the extra step to guarantee this never happens again by digging out the area underneath the bridge preventing a recurrence. A huge win to reduce trash on Stevenson Creek! Thank you City of Clearwater, FL!
