Shoutout to Rick Brunson. Who else noticed this? On the first possession of the third quarter, CJ McCollum was hit with a technical for kicking Brunson in his twig and berries. (After the game, McCollum claimed JB was acting ”on Broadway,” which was bizarre considering he clearly hit Brunson in a very sensitive area.) After the refs announce that NY will be awarded a free throw, Rick heads over to Jalen. It’s unclear whether he asked Jalen if he felt physically fine, or whether the veteran NY assistant coach simply realized that KAT could benefit from seeing a shot drop. (As a reminder, Towns struggled in the first half, shooting just 1-of-6 from the floor in the first.) JB nods approvingly. Towns steps to the stripe and knocks down the free throw. A minute later, KAT drills a three-pointer from the corner (off a Brunson assist) and is off to the races. Towns finished the second half with 19 points (5-of-7 from the floor, 3-of-3 from downtown and 6-of-6 from the FT line).

Wow. Incredible story told by Mitchell Robsinon’s high school coach Butch Stockton. Stockton explains his wife passed away in September and that Robinson visited her every day she was in the hospital. At the funeral, Mitch said he’d invite Butch to live with him in NY. Stockton took him up on the offer and has been Robinson’s roommate since the start of the season.

Karl-Anthony Towns is the first year of a four-year, $220 million extension. He will earn: $53 million in 2025-26 $57 million in 2026-27 and $61 million in 2027-28 That is a guaranteed contract. The largest in Knicks franchise history. NY is on the hook whether he is healthy or not. Thibs sending KAT back into a regular-season game in February of 2025 in which NY is down 20 and with less than 4 minutes remaining after KAT just crumpled to the bench in pain clutching his left knee and limped back to the locker room... is indefensible. Period. It's reckless and short-sighted and unjustifiable.
