Before tiles and vitrified floors, there was kaavi flooring, a lime and red oxide craft from Kerala and the Konkan region in India 🇮🇳 Kaavi flooring is an ancient craft made from a mixture of lime, natural pigments, and red oxide. It’s not just decorative ,it’s functional, naturally cooling, low-carbon, and can last 50–100 years when properly maintained. Unlike modern tiles, kaavi ages with character. It ages better than most “modern luxury” floors. So why did we abandon materials that were literally built to outlast us?
