Dolly Parton reveals that the real Jolene was actually just a little red-headed girl asking for an autograph. “There was a little girl at one of our shows. She was a little red-headed girl, pretty as she could be. She came up to get an autograph.” “She said, ‘Would you sign it to Jolene?’ I said, ‘Oh, that’s a pretty name, I’m gonna write a song about you.’” “I said, ‘If you ever hear a song on the radio called Jolene, you’ll know it’s about you.’” “I got back to the bus and I was singing, ‘Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene’ just so I wouldn’t forget the name.” “That’s why the whole chorus is pretty much just saying the word Jolene.”

Dakota Johnson says her dad cut off her allowance the moment she skipped college to pursue becoming an actress. “He said to all of us. I mean, all of my siblings, which there’s like 900, you’ll be on what he calls the payroll, which is an allowance.” “He said if you go to college, you still get an allowance. And I was like, well, I’m going to be an actress. So he was like, ‘All right, well, you’re on your own.’” “I definitely had moments where I couldn’t afford groceries and things like that, and needed to ask my mom to help me. She was the nice one.”

Jay Leno says a widow tried to sell him a Ferrari for $350,000, so he helped her turn it into $3,750,000 instead. “I get enough free stuff like that, that’s right, that’s very nice. You don’t need to start screwing people over.” “I said, ‘If I can get you close to 4 million for that car, will you bake me some cookies?’ And she said, ‘Why? It’s not worth that much.’ I go, ‘It’s worth that much.’” “I don’t like it when I hear people tell me a story how they screwed some old guy out of a car. I hate those kind of stories. I like these kind of stories.”

Will Ferrell says he turned down a crazy amount of money for an Elf sequel because he couldn't stomach lying to fans on the press tour. “If I were to promote that movie, I’d be literally saying ‘I did it for the money, straight up.’” “I was offered a crazy amount of money. But I was like, I have to be able to sit in a setting like this and talk about the movie in a way that I feel good about.” “An attempt was made at a script which tried its best, but I just was like, ‘I don’t know.’” “It’s a classic fish-out-of-water story. Prove me wrong.”

Caleb Hammer almost had a literal stroke listening to this. Imagine going $14,000 into credit card debt for season tickets when you only make $50k a year, and then financing the financing. Caleb Hammer: "Explain this to me like a toddler. You made $51,000 last year, correct?" Guest: "Yeah, roughly." Caleb Hammer: "Then why am I looking at a $14,000 charge on your Discover card for NFL season tickets?!" Guest: "It’s an investment in my happiness. Plus, I financed it through a third-party app to spread out the payments." Caleb Hammer: "You financed a credit card charge?! You put a financing plan on a card charging you 28.9% interest?!" Guest: "Yeah, because the app gave me zero interest for thirty days. I’m financing the financed payments to save money." Caleb Hammer: "THAT IS NOT HOW MATH WORKS! You are paying a fee to finance a payment to pay off a card that is bleeding you alive! You are financing your own financial execution!"

Dolly Parton says her husband of nearly 60 years has only ever taken one airplane flight in his entire life. “Carl Dean is my husband. I’ve been married to him since 1966.” “People have us everywhere. They say we own property everywhere. My husband never leaves Nashville.” “We went to Hawaii one time. First and only time he’s ever been on an airplane.” “It was years before he would see me in concert, ‘cause he was afraid if I messed up he wouldn’t know what to do.” “He’ll come in and out, but he won’t go if people know he’s there.” “He’ll just say, ‘I went to see so and so, and it’s pretty good.’ He don’t really... he just goes to see them.”

Jay Leno says he made $30,000,000 a year hosting The Tonight Show and never spent a single dollar of it. “I was making 30 million a year and NBC said, ‘Well, we’re gonna have to cut half the crew.’ So we had a big meeting and I said, ‘How many feel I should take a 50% pay cut so we can keep everybody?’” “I already have $15 million. I’m doing pretty good, you know? I never thought I’d get this far.” “I always lived on the money I made as a stand-up... I wanted to be a comedian. I never thought TV was a job that would last your whole life.” “I never touched any of it. I always worked.”

Dolly Parton says she cried all night after refusing to give Elvis 50% of her publishing rights for I Will Always Love You. “I can’t give you half of a copyright that’s already proved itself.” “When you’re a writer and when you’re a publisher, your copyrights, that is what you leave for your family.” “I cried all night, I just had to make a business decision.” “Elvis wanted to record it, they had invited me down to the session if I wanted to come.” “No, I can’t give you half of the copyright.” “I felt terrible, because I had to say no.”

Mark Cuban says he bought an unlimited lifetime airline pass for $125,000 after selling his first company for $6,000,000 “I was 29 years old when I bought it. I’d walk right up to the airport and go right to Barcelona.” “My first company I sold for $6 million, so I called from a steakhouse and said, ‘Hello, do you guys sell lifetime passes?’” “For $125,000 you get this card and for the rest of your life, you and someone else can fly for free, anywhere.” “They have to kick off somebody off the flight if you are flying.” “Maybe it might cost me 12 cents a mile, you know, what a deal.”

Tyrese Gibson says he rented an airplane to fly over his daughter’s school just to leave her a message when he wasn’t allowed contact. “They said no calls and no contact... but they didn’t say you couldn’t fly a plane over the school, motherf***er. I’m gonna get this message to my baby.” “Shayla, Daddy loves you no matter what.” “I ended up paying for an airplane to fly over my baby’s school during lunch... I told them fly for two hours over her school.” “She went out to the play area and looked up. And my dad never violated the court order, because they didn’t put that in the court order.”

Dave Ramsey: How much student loan debt do you have? Caller: About $550,000 Dave Ramsey: $550,000? Caller: Yeah. Dave Ramsey: What is your field of study? Caller: Medicine. Family practice. Dave Ramsey: Why did it take $550,000 to do family practice? Caller: Poor decisions and misguided advice early on to not worry about loans. Dave Ramsey: Family practice. What are you looking at, a hundred and a half a year? Caller: $180,00] starting. Dave Ramsey: Why does it take eight years if you're making $180,000? You could live on $80,000, put $100,000 on it, and be done in five years. Caller: After taxes and tithing, I'm down to $110,000. We plan to put about $85,000 a year toward it, leaving $20,000 to $30,000 to live off of. With the interest rate, it will take about eight years. Dave Ramsey: Your income doesn't go up in your scenario? Caller: That is building in a 5% raise every year. Dave Ramsey: I think you'll get more raises than that. Can you work ER on the weekends? Caller: The place I'm signed with won't let me work other jobs so I don't come in tired. But they said they can put me to work as much as I need. Dave Ramsey: You could pick up another $100,000 a year working ER on the weekends if you have the stamina. I want to increase the size of your shovel. I'm not going to accept the eight years; I'm going with a four or five-year plan. And yes, I am going to delay retirement because this is a vast problem.

Jay Leno says he bought his McLaren F1 for $800,000 and the last offer he got on it was $17,500,000. “I bought this car for $800,000. last offer I got was $17.5 Million.” “I’m driving home from the airport, I come up my street, and I see another one parked in the house three doors down from me.” “Like a movie, this supermodel in a bathrobe answers: ‘That’s my boyfriend’s car...’ She looked at me like I was crazy.” “He goes: ‘I got offered a million twenty-five for mine. I’m dumping it.’ ... Now they’ve gone crazy. One sold at Monterey for $24,000,000.”

Caller: I am 35, married with a kid and a second on the way. I have $1.8 million in debt total. Dave Ramsey: Good Lord. Caller: I live in Montreal, which is the third most expensive city in Canada, and I work as a nurse, which is the cheapest paid in the whole of Canada. Dave Ramsey: What is the 1.8 million on? I hope it's just your real estate. Caller: I have a triplex which I owe about $680,000 on, and my family home which I owe $590,000 on. Dave Ramsey: What's the triplex worth? Caller: The triplex is worth about $850,000. I'm trying to get $950,000 on it, but I don't know if I should lower the price. Dave Ramsey: So you've got it up for sale. And what is your home worth? Caller: My home is worth about $750,000. Dave Ramsey: Okay, that's not all of it. Caller: No, it's not. I have two Hondas which I owe close to $70,000 on each. I have $350,000 of personal debt, and $35,000 of credit card and student loans. Dave Ramsey: What is your $350,000 of personal debt? Caller: It was loaned to me mostly by my cousin, both as a down payment for the house as well as to renovate the house and the triplex. Dave Ramsey: Wow. And what's your household income? Caller: Around $110,000 to $120,000 before tax. Dave Ramsey: You owe $70,000 each on two Hondas? Caller: Yes. Dave Ramsey: So they're not worth 70? Caller: No, they're fairly new, but they're electric. We got them because we would be saving $500 in gas per car. Dave Ramsey: Yeah, that makes a difference when you're $2 million in debt. That's a big deal. Not! How can we help, hon? Caller: I had my aha moment when I saw $22,000 going out in one month after doing a budget, and I don't know what exactly to do. I tried to get my wife on board. She says she'll get rid of everything besides the house and the cars. I cut out everything from potato chips to haircuts, literally anything I could to curb the expenses. I wish I could do more jobs a day, but my doctor says that because I'm bipolar, I need to have a healthy work-life balance. And my wife is going on maternity leave in 12 weeks. Rachel Cruze: How much of her salary is the 120? Caller: She makes about $66,000. Rachel Cruze: So half of it. Is that paid maternity leave? Caller: She gets 70% paid. Rachel Cruze: For how long? Caller: For a year. Rachel Cruze: And how much are these car payments a month? Caller: Just under 750 each. Dave Ramsey: I think we need to have a different discussion at your kitchen table. It's not like, "what will she go along with?" She's one of the adults here too. The two of you need to sit down, look at this and go, "In 10 years, where do we want to be?" I'm collapsing under the weight of this. This is killing me, and it's aggravating your bipolar because your stress level is through the roof. It's not a matter of keeping a princess happy. The princess gets to grow up and be a woman.

Jay Leno says customer service is the real reason he chose McLaren over Ferrari. “When I was a young man, if you went into a Ferrari dealership, you couldn’t buy the GTO. You had to buy two Mondials first.” “It was a certain elite feeling to it. I didn’t like it. They don't need my business. I like people who need my business.” “When I bought my McLaren, they said, 'You gonna track it?' I said, 'No.' 'Save 20 grand, you don’t need 'em. These are just as good.' I felt like a customer.”

Caller: I have a gambling addiction. I haven’t filed taxes in five years. About five years ago, I had $200,000 in gambling winnings. After that, I haven’t filed anything. Dave Ramsey: Do you still have a career? Caller: I'm retired. Dave Ramsey: Okay. Do you have any money? Anything? Caller: I've got almost $10,000 in my savings account. Dave Ramsey: But you don't have a nest egg other than your pension. Caller: No. Dave Ramsey: Do you own a home? Caller: Yes. About $13,000 is remaining on the mortgage. Dave Ramsey: What is it worth? Caller: About $300,000. Dave Ramsey: And how much is your pension income? Caller: $95,000 a year. Dave Ramsey: That's good. Are you married? Caller: No. Dave Ramsey: Have you done something about the gambling addiction itself? Have you quit gambling? Caller: I have not. Dave Ramsey: Okay. So whatever we do is going to be a temporary fix because that is going to cause further problems. Agreed? Caller: Yes, absolutely. Dave Ramsey: What kind of gambling are you doing? Caller: Slot machines. Dave Ramsey: Are you lonely? Caller: Yeah. I've been single for quite a while. Dave Ramsey: How old are you? Caller: 61. Dave Ramsey: From working with people addicted to anything, I know that 100% of addicts eventually have financial problems. The addiction consumes every department of your life, including your financials. I can help you with the money parts of it, but it is a temporary fix until you deal with this. It's not bringing you joy. If you were my buddy sitting down over a cup of coffee, here is what I would tell you to do: Step 1: Get in touch with the Gamblers Anonymous folks in your area. Step 2: Find a good local church and start developing a personal relationship with a pastor who can walk with you. Step 3: Find a one-on-one professional counselor to help dig into what is really going on so you can get to the other side of this.

Alan Ritchson says a stranger lied to TMZ and physically shoved him off his custom motorcycle. “He lied to TMZ about us. None of that was true.” “Everybody in the neighborhood knows who I am. People that do a slow stare, it’s normal.” “He steps in front of me and I’m like, ‘What the hell?’ That’s when it got weird.” “I get close to him and I smell alcohol. I was like, ‘Oh, it’s Sunday at like 11:00 AM.’” “He shoved me, two-handed shoved me off the bike. Me and the bike go to the ground.” “There was no more conversation. I’ve got to protect my kids. So, I hit the guy.”

Kristen Bell says her depression takes away the excitement for even the simplest things in life. “When my anxiety is high, it feels like an absolute inability to make decisions. Like, I would rather not do something than decide what to do.” “Depression is different. My version of it feels very restricted, like if you're trying to put on a latex glove that’s way too small for your hand.” “When I’m having depression, it's like none of those things are exciting or seem worth it. So there's this real disconnect because I know logically that should be a feeling that induces some happiness, but it's like my depression will not let me recognize those feelings.” “At 40, I don't like believe anything should be taboo anymore... I think that anything that's taboo and hard to talk about should be some of the first priorities you should be talking about with the support systems in your life.”

Kristen Bell says taking photos with fans in front of her kids ruins their upbringing. “I don’t take pictures with anyone because I don’t think my children deserve an upbringing where I’m stopping to talk to strangers.” “They don’t really know that people worship us. They think it’s just for the work, and I’m happy to keep it that way.” “Lincoln goes, ‘Daddy, do people listen for you or Monica?’ He said, ‘Because I’m famous.’ She goes, ‘Wait you’re famous?’ He said, ‘Why do you think people stop me and Mommy to take pictures?’ And she goes, ‘Whoa Mommy’s famous?’”

Caller: I am 61, I have zero retirement savings and only a $1,000 emergency fund. I am currently in Baby Step 2 trying to pay off debt, but my company offers a 4% 401k match. Given my age and lack of savings, should I pause the debt payoff to take advantage of the company match? Dave Ramsey: So you're 61 and have no money. Caller: None. Dave Ramsey: What do you make? Caller: I bring home roughly $67,000. Dave Ramsey: What is your debt? Caller: A little over $69,000. Dave Ramsey: On what? Caller: Student loan $11,000, I have a car loan of $18,000, I have a personal loan of $12,000, and then another personal loan of $26,000 on a tractor. Dave Ramsey: Why do you have a tractor? Caller: Well, we're country folks and... Dave Ramsey: Oh, "we." Where's your husband? Caller: My husband is 75, he's drawing Social Security, he is basically disabled. I guess you could say he has COPD and emphysema, he's had three back surgeries. Dave Ramsey: So he don't need to be on a tractor. Caller: No, I use the tractor. Dave Ramsey: Not anymore. Broke people don't have $26,000 tractors. Caller: Well, I have tried everything I can to try and sell this thing, other than just letting it go back and letting them sell it for whatever they can sell it for and paying the difference. Dave Ramsey: No, you haven't. Tractors are selling right now. What's, what kind of tractor is this? Caller: It's a Kubota... Dave Ramsey: That tractor will sell. Dave Ramsey: I would go to the credit union and borrow the $5,000 worth of difference and get this tractor sold, and you need to sell your car too. You guys are in emergency mode, girl. Caller: Well, this was two years ago before I discovered this past March. Dave Ramsey: Okay. What is your land worth? What's your land worth? Caller: Probably about three or four thousand. Dave Ramsey: Your land is worth $3,000? Caller: Yeah, we bought it back in '92. Dave Ramsey: You have a $26,000 tractor for a $4,000 piece of land. Caller: Well, we hunt and I use it to clear deer leases and our hunting area and food plots. Yeah, I told you I was a country girl. Dave Ramsey: Yeah, and you're starting to look up and go, "I need something to eat other than Social In-Security when I get to 66 or 67." So, yeah, if I'm in your mode, I am so scared, I'm going crazy, and I'm selling tractor, I'm selling car, I'm going to get a $2,000 car, I'm going to work like a crazy person.
