Jordan Battle on Malik Willis: “He has a little slight little tap before every throw though, so I feel like we could use that as a key to break on the ball. He likes to tap the ball before he throws it, or he takes his hand off, and that that gives the read the break. He's obviously dangerous with his feet. We know we got to be alert for that. Third and longs, they will run quarterback draws, and in the passing game, he will extend plays. So we got to be good downfield. DBs are plastering, so we got to be alert for that. He will take chances. We just got to be on, be alert on guys where they line up.”

Illinois head coach Brad Underwood surprised and disappointed Bearcats didn’t have a better crowd Saturday for the exhibition game: “I hope the community of Cincinnati comes out and supports them. This is a really good basketball team, and I was disappointed. I was disappointed they didn't have didn't have a sellout, didn't have a packed house, and this team's going to be fun to watch. This is an NCA tournament team that's going to continue to get better. They were without some guys as we were, but I would have thought with such a rich history in this program on a Saturday afternoon with the football team on the road, that group deserves to play in front of a lot of passionate fans, which I know Cincinnati has.”

Joe Burrow had the back of Orlando Brown Jr. Wednesday: “Look, I think Orlando was pretty good. There were a couple sacks that weren't in his control at the end of the day. There's a lot of different things that go into pass protection that's not just on the offensive line, and that that's what you don't see in in the media. There's very intricate details of past protection, and guy expecting help here. Guys expecting help from a different spot. A lot of different things that go into it that we would never explain to you guys, and then it's left up to interpretation, and that's that's how football works, and that's the O line position at the end of the day. That is a thankless job from the exterior, so you try to pump those guys up as much as you can in the building. But I really think they were pretty good on Sunday.”

Jerrod Calhoun, on his birthday, talks about why playing a final four caliber team in Illinois is so good for his Bearcats: “I think all in all, we learned a ton about our group that we're not going to quit. We did the same thing against Ohio State in the second half. But, there's points in games where you have to win the margins, right? And I thought when we tied it up, we were right there. I don't know what the time was, but they beat us on a couple 50-50 balls, offensive rebounds, and great teams are going to make you pay, and they did.”

It's been like penalties on ourselves that we could control. It's not just holding penalties. It's unsportsmanlike conduct penalties. It's all of the above at the end of the day. Ja’Marr Chase admits he spoke to team after 28-3 loss in Denver. “I don't mind (players playing with anger) because that means they care, if I'm being honest. I don't mind when the players get mad. I don't. I don't mind that because that means they care. I want guys to play with passion. I want them to play with anger because you never know how guys may respond. I told my guys that recently, after the game, I just want them to play a little more fire and anger.”
