People forget. Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama’ah don’t. In April 1803 (Muharram 1218 AH) the Wahhabis of Najd under Saud bin Abdulaziz marched into Mecca after the Sharif fled. They leveled tombs, smashed domes, and treated the Haram like their desert outpost. They had already massacred Taif and sacked Karbala in 1802. The Ummah remembers who first turned the sanctuaries into a battlefield for their bid’ah of takfir. The Ottomans didn’t leave it like that. November 1812 Egyptian-Ottoman Sunni (Sufi) forces under Tusun Pasha took Medina back. January 1813 they entered Mecca. The Wahhabi garrison fled. The Haramayn returned to Ahlus Sunnah. The Ummah remembers who attacked the sanctuaries and who restored them.
