🫂 Friday, after Vladimir Guerrero Jr. laced a RBI double and then came around to score, I noticed George Springer gave him an extra long hug in the dugout. Knowing Vlad hasn’t quite looked like himself this season, I asked Springer ‘why the extra embrace?’ His answer 🥹👏🏼 “Because Vlad cares. He so badly wants to do well for us. I hope he was able to breathe a little tonight.” No better time for Toronto to complete a sweep of the Mariners, with September around the corner, and a strong month desperately needed to stay in the Wild Card race.

🥹❤️ “When I went away in 2022 they were right there with their support. When I came back in 2025, they were right there with their support. I don’t need a retirement party. I’ve already had that great reception.” - Legendary Toronto Blue Jays broadcaster Buck Martínez, after declaring himself cancer free just weeks ago. Tomorrow he will be inducted into the Blue Jays hall of excellence.

Welp…….The Brewers now have a pet turtle. A pocket turtle. 🐢 Backstory: I caused Pat Murphy chaos with pocket pancakes… So this time during our interview, Murph handed me a……live turtle and said, “Good luck getting it through TSA.” The turtle, will be staying with the team for now, as American Airlines apparently draws the line at reptiles.

Curt Cignetti is sitting courtside for the IU vs Purdue game. When I tell you this man has not turned a single person away who has walked up to him for a picture, autograph or hug…. Here’s 47 seconds during the timeout of evidence. A man of the people. Could not be more proud to call him our head coach.

This Astros bobble head for Yordan Alvarez is a mic drop 🔥🎤 Alvarez is standing on the tweet the Astros sent out 10 years ago when they acquired him from the Dodgers…One of the most lopsided trades we’ve ever seen, and also came with negative reaction at the time. Now, he’s in the middle of a MVP caliber season. And on the bobblehead, he is standing on the tweet, with the World Series trophy in hand and the Cuban flag draped around his shoulders. There are only 150 of them.

“This win was for Venezuela. I love them. Forgive me for not being there. My chest had a message on it asking God to not abandon us.” On a night with a heavy heart, speaking out all day, begging for help after the devastation in Venezuela, William Contreras hit a 2 run HR, wearing his Venezuelan WBC gear & a prayer for Venezuela on his chest. Baseball. You can’t script this. A meaningful, meaningful moment for him ❤️

🇻🇪“Our country needs help. It is so painful. We have to show emotion & support. It’s hard to focus on a game like nothing happened.” William Contreras breaks down in tears as he talks about his country and his friends back home, searching for their loved ones amidst the rubble of the earthquake. Contreras has been posting non-stop on his Instagram asking for help finding the missing people from the tragedy and asking for aid.

🇻🇪 When Salvador Perez talked with me tonight pregame before the win about a potential title for his country, you could hear the weight of its significance in his voice. “I’m playing for my family…it’s hard for them to get a Visa to come see. I’m playing for the 30 million people back home. Even the ones who don’t like me.” It’s far bigger than baseball. Congrats Team Venezuela. Unreal.

😅 First interview in Spanish ✅ Terrifying, humbling, and a whole new respect for every player who does interviews in a second language. HUGE thank you to Salvador Pérez for his patience and walking me through the whole thing. He was incredibly kind & encouraging. I made him a promise 6 weeks ago I’d do this — promise kept ✔️ It wasn’t perfect but continuing to learn will be on my off-season to do list!

“Looking at it, it’s a last-place team against a team that’s in contention. They’re just trying to ignite something over there… Not worth our time at this moment. We’re focused on bigger things right now…” Brandon Lowe with a big picture perspective about the two dugout clearing scuffles between the Rays and Yankees today.

One of the coolest parts of my job is getting to meet new teams and players every weekend. But let me tell you … I’ve never had someone beat me to an interview quite like 19-year-old Konnor Griffin 😄 He was not only on time for the interview but he was early (and as many sideline reporters know, that’s rare for players) and so prepared. And beyond that, just so impressed with how he carries himself. At 19, I was barely stringing sentences together on camera… he’s already doing full interviews like a complete pro. Pittsburgh, you’ve got a good one.

“I do not view down syndrome as a disability, my wife doesn’t view it as a disability & neither will Penelope. She wakes up with a smile on her face everyday. And we should all live life that way.” 💙💛 🥹 If you do nothing else today, listen to this answer from Texas Rangers Jake Burger about his daughter, Penelope, who has Down syndrome. This weekend he is honoring her with his bat & shoes.

💰🔴⚪️ “I’m not just giving money so you can bid the highest — you have to know how to build a team. But I’ll put it this way…with that money…you’re buying Kilroy’s.” Mark Cuban on his huge NIL donation, why it grew this year, IU’s approach to building a team, and how he was convinced they earned it. 🎙️ New Sideline Stories episode with Mark Cuban — out now! 🔗: 🔗:

🦀 Hey Baltimore, I think Pete Alonso likes you a little bit. His Players’ Weekend bat with the Orioles? Literally Maryland blue crabs. “Baltimore and Maryland — they’re known for their blue crabs. This bat is inspired by the Eastern Shore. I wanted something that was important to the fabric of this city.” 🧡🖤

A lot of you watched the video of my dad at the Rose Bowl, so here’s a little follow-up moment. He’s been a pastor in Bloomington for over two decades. And this is how he opened his sermon this morning—before diving into the book of Matthew. Faith. Family. Football. 😂 🔴⚪️

“I’m going to get a little choked up here. Given everything over the past year, this turned into a special day. I felt at peace on the mound today.” - An emotional Pete Fairbanks after closing out the game and with a strikeout, for Ellis. Pete & his wife Lydia hosted the Turner Syndrome Foundation. He lost his baby girl Ellis to Turner Syndrome this offseason. For every strikeout he donates to the foundation. Butterfly is the symbol for Turner Syndrome. He has seen so many butterflies recently. Here is a link to their live auction for the foundation:

Don’t know why I’m tweeting such an embarrassing clip, unsure what my necklace choice is in first clip, as well as the un-ironed scarf choice in second clip, but yes it’s true. 22 years old fresh out of college covering the Packers (and Brewers) at WBAY-TV 2. God bless legendary sports director there Chris Roth, Pat Mayo and Dave Schroeder for teaching me everything because I knew nothing, but thought I knew everything 🫠
