I lived this life for 10 years. I entered the NFL as a kicker and got cut twice. I went to the Fall Experimental League to get more film, then played in the CFL doing all three. I came back to the NFL as a punter, started the season with the Chargers, handled all three duties, and became a team captain. I’ve seen every side of this business. I know the questions you’re going to be asked. I know what the workouts look like. I know what the scheduling looks like. I know what every side of this process looks like. If you’re serious about making it to the NFL, who better to learn from than someone who actually did it and made it? I’m opening up limited spots for pre-draft training. If you’re ready to take this seriously, I’d love to work with you. #TLK #BeAPro #NFL

Are you actually a good holder? Holding a football is something that looks relatively easy. Then you realize you have to catch the ball at the same distance every single time, make quick adjustments using your hands, and set it exactly how the kicker wants it on every rep. When you think about it like that, it’s actually a pretty difficult task. Only if you don’t work at it. Becoming a great holder takes time. It’s doing the little things and getting as many real reps as you possibly can. This is a simple drill I worked on before I came back to the NFL. If you want to become a great holder, get as many reps as possible. Slow hands do not eat. Be a perfectionist. #TLK #BeAPro #Specialists #KickerDevelopment #PunterDevelopment

Let’s talk about backed-up punts! I had a moment in my career where we were playing the Raiders, with the Black Hole right behind me. I was really juiced up and trying to crush a big punt. Early on, my backed-up steps were just a normal one-step (right foot forward, taking a small jab and swinging). However, I got overly eager, trying to hit the ball as far as possible, which led to me have long my steps. As a result, I ended up hitting a 37-yard punt that left our defense in a tough spot. That was a learning experience for me. My buddy, Ryan Santoso, taught me this footwork technique that really helped me get consistent with my backed-up punts. It’s crucial to have a footwork routine that you trust, especially in a high-stress situation like this. Backed-up punts are a “gotta-have-it” moment – we need to get that ball across the 50-yard line, minimum. By incorporating this reverse kickstart into my game, I was able to create momentum while staying compact, quick and consistent. This adjustment helped me deliver some big punts in backed-up situations. You can still use the old-school method if it works for you, but I highly recommend trying this adjustment. It could make a big difference in your game! #TLK #punting #kicking #fyp #mentality

Something I talk to my guys about all the time is the mental game. My mental game in high school was mediocre at best. When I got to college, I started taking it more seriously. I began visualizing my kicks the night before games, and I noticed a major difference when I stayed focused throughout the entire game. By improving in those two areas, my numbers improved dramatically. When I transitioned to the NFL, I started visualizing not just the night before games but also before practices. I incorporated positive affirmations into my daily routine and worked hard to maintain positive self-talk. Positive self-talk was especially important for me because, like many of you, I expected perfection from myself all the time. When I wasn’t perfect, I was pretty harsh on myself, which wasn’t helping me improve. So, I made adjustments. As I progressed in the NFL, my focus improved year after year. My self-talk got better, my confidence grew, and my preparation improved. I became more confident in the drill work I was doing off the field and more committed to the game plan every day at practice. By leaving no gray area, I ensured that I was always prepared. Do the little things, the little things matter! Here’s what I noticed. •High school players: Do the little things right sometimes. •College players: Do the little things right most of the time. •NFL players: Do the little things right every time. #TLK

I’m really enjoying working full‑time with free‑agent Porter Wilson ‼️ He moved to Birmingham last month and has worked his butt off every day. You can tell how seriously he takes his training—he’s 30 minutes early to every session, he’s coachable, and he’s meticulous about the details. He’s been nothing but a true pro, and I genuinely believe he can play at the next level. Check out this set of banana balls—all while being an outstanding directional punter! Backed Up Part ✌️ Priority #1: NO BLOCKED PUNTS Priority #2: Flip the Field When you’re backed up, let’s just say the ball’s on the 2-yard line, so you’re dealing with a crammed operation. As a punter, your role is to get out there, find the back line, then move up about half a foot to give yourself some extra room in case you get a bad snap or take a false step back. You do NOT want your heels lined up with the back of the end zone. In this situation, the entire operation will be faster. That means your hands need to be quicker, your footwork needs to be faster, and your mental process needs to speed up too. It’s crucial to do this training during your off-season practice so you’re ready when it happens. I hope you enjoy this video and find it helpful! If you have any questions, drop them in the comments. And if this video helps you, please share it! #TLK #Punting #Mentality #fyp
