Hope will always have a home with us. As I hinted at this morning, I got a sense from the property manager that this tear down ranch house may not be available as a rental for much longer… we could try to buy the lot but the process is long and complicated…and there would be no house standing while it all played out. And we’d be competing against a bunch of local developers. We went in another direction. To be honest this is a plan/project we’ve been working on for the last six months. I’ll cut to the chase. We bought a house under construction four doors down. It’s already part of Hope and the herd’s habitat so the adjustment should be fairly smooth. If you look at the first photo shot from the top floor of our new house you can see our small ranch rental between the blue house and light brown one. We’re moving in. Some of our deer friends have already joined us. See short video shot from our new rear deck.

Studio update. October has been rented and I believe September and November soon will be. It’s $2,500 with one month minimum. This building was built in 1730-it’s on second floor above cafe-36 steps.

I’ve been traveling to Paris for 50 years since age 11 and finally we were able to make our dream come true. But you’re quite right. We chose a center city safe and popular neighborhood (the Marais) to buy in. Sort of like many years ago when I moved to DC I chose to live in Cleveland Park. In all honesty it never occurred to me to move to Anacostia.

Paris Studio update. It looks like October & November, 2026 and May and September of 2027 have been taken. Oh, it’s been pointed out I should make clear this studio is a Deuxième ‘etage (second floor) walk up which in the U.S. would be the third floor. Either way it’s 36 steps. See photos.
