🚨🚨2-ALARM FIRE Tucson Fire was dispatched to a call of fire nature unknown at 3:37 this afternoon in the 3100 block of East 22nd Street. Engine 3 arrived six minutes later and reported smoke coming from the back door on and eaves of an abandoned AM/PM. A full alarm was called, and crews started to search for the source of the fire. As seen in this video, there was a significant fire event. The roof collapsed, and operations shifted to a defensive mode. At this time, crews are unable to enter the building to extinguish remaining hot spots, and excavators will be used to tear it down. Firefighters were on the roof when it collapsed, but they were uninjured, as was the individual seen in the video. This video highlights the dangers our crews face every time they battle a fire, and we are thankful that everyone is safe. The fire was caused by homeless activity.

🚨BEE SWARM Tucson Fire was dispatched to an allergic reaction near Grant and Swan at 11:42 this afternoon. When Brush Tender 7 arrived four minutes later they found bees swarming a mobile home in the area. They also found two people in a mobile home, being actively stung by bees. Crews were able to spray foam on the bees and get the two people out of the home. They were transported to a local hospital. A full medical alarm, three medic and three suppression trucks, a battalion chief and an EMS captain and a battalion chief, were dispatched as a precaution. An exterminator was called to the scene; he neutralised the bees. A firefighter was also stung a couple of times and is okay.

🚨 Tucson Fire was dispatched to a dumpster fire at 1750 North Sabino Canyon Road at 6:09 this evening. Engine 9 arrived five minutes later and reported heavy, black smoke in the area and discovered a large fuel tank on fire near a private landfill. The call was updated to a HAZMAT response and nearby Udall Park was evacuated as a precaution due to the location of the fire. Crews faced challenges extinguishing this fire because of the location and nearby electrical equipment. The fire was called under control at 7:49 and crews were able to contain damage to the area. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Almost four hours after a trench partially collapsed, trapping a worker 20 feet below, FF’s were able to successfully remove the patient. He was immediately assessed on scene and then airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries. Multiple agencies worked through the high’s and lows, as secondary collapses often stalled progress and temperatures were extreme.
