Never told this story publicly, but here you go: Last year, Jump n Pass (Techstars '23) ran out of funds. Was largely deceived by this African VC, and was stupidly depending on their promised funds. Anyways, market timing and building a product that was way ahead of its time in Africa made it difficult to raise. In a bid to save my company I used the last funds in the account and started selling meat. Yes, you read right. I convinced my co-founder Rex Quadry and together we went to the Kara cow market, bought cows and started a cow sharing business. We were killing cows in our building and selling it for parts. Lol. Toni owned the marketing of our meat. 2 months after, we won the Zenith bank hackathon, and 2 days after, I jumped on a plane to San Francisco to rebuild our business for another market. 1 week after arriving the US, we got into Founders Inc and got funded. Our story is still being written, but today, when VCs ask, “what’s your moat.” I almost want to say: “I am the moat.” lol We don’t give up over here.
