Who has a really obscure railway claim to fame? Mine is that I was the shouting blonde toddler in Michael Palin's around the world in 80 days 🤣 apparently, I was excited to see the trains! I guess we know were Austin gets it from!!

The days are long but the years are short! Being a parent, I'm really aware of how fast life goes & that one day, Austin will likely decide that he wants to go off & find his own way, which is fine, but I reckon we've got a couple more years of waving at trains together yet 😊

The whole time we've been in Germany, not one train has used it horn, until now 😆 change of underpants required for me I think. Probably amplified by the cavernous roof here at Dresden. Pleased to report Austin handled it better than me 🤣🤣🤣

I wonder what will be outside our hotel window? Maybe a lovely view of the river? Or a beautiful snow coverer cityscape? Nope.... it's even better 😍 I don't think the TV will be getting much use with this at our window.

We've had a lovely evening exploring the old town in Köln. With a belly full of pizza & curry wurst, we've just found the perfect spot to finish off the evening with a bit of train spotting. The cathedral one side & the hohenzollern rail bridge the other make a perfect backdrop.

"Daddy, can we watch it leave?" He must have been on 100+ journeys on the Underground but he still asks this every time 😊 These are the little moments I'll miss when he decides he's too cool to hang out with me. Hopefully that will still be a while yet!

We were allowed to choose the location for a family picnic today. After careful consideration, we went for Needham lake in Suffolk because of the beautiful scenery and wildlife and definitely not because the Pullman HST was due to pass through 😁 #hst #pullman #class43

Good morning from a sunny, but chilly Montrose. We actually had a very good night sleep but now we must bid farewell to our train. Only 4 coaches this morning after the original 16 were divided during the night to head off to Inverness and Fort William.

Here we go 😁 we're off to Inverness on the lovely Caledonian Sleeper, 500 odd miles, 12 or so hours and we're going to enjoy every minute. Time to head to the club car for a hot chocolate, and maybe a snack 😁 Caledonian Sleeper

The journey is over for us at Stirling but that means that we get to watch our train depart as it continues on towards Edinburgh. We're off for a little chill out, hes done around 14k steps today all in freezing cold and without a fuss. He's a real trooper!
