A closer look at Operator. It reaches across the entire work cell, up to 10 feet high and all the way down to the floor. Operator handles bags, mailers, and boxes with the dexterity to adapt to an endless variety of items on the fly. [1/4]

Robotics has a distribution problem. Today, Ultra is announcing $62M in funding to solve it, including a $50M Series A led by Framework Ventures. We believe that deployment is the bottleneck in robotics. It’s relatively easy to make a robot look impressive in a controlled environment. It’s much harder to put a robot into the open world, make it useful, keep it running, earn the trust of the people working alongside it, and do that over and over and over again. So that’s what we’re focusing on.

Introducing Operator, our newest industrial AI robot built to work, not demo. Operator handles your warehouse's most repetitive tasks: packing, sorting, and kitting. Up to 24 hours a day, with flexibility and consistency that allows businesses to scale quickly. This is what we've been building. ↓ [1/4]

A slow Sunday morning in Texas. The warehouse is mostly empty, except for two OP1s that didn't get the memo. One of them alone peaked at 193 orders/hr. Built to run 24/7, the work doesn't stop, so neither do they.

We’ve been collaborating with Physical Intelligence to deploy their models on our robots to automate order packing in real warehouses. With a sufficiently scoped and repetitive task, we have achieved a high level of reliable autonomy. This is an uncut, 1 minute time-lapse of a full 8-hour shift during which our robot ran autonomously 96.4% of the time. Thread below features some of our favorite moments [1/7]

Great to see more from the robotics field on useful autonomous capability. Our last generation robot, OP0, ran a full autonomous shift of bulk packing at a real customer warehouse back in February. More public proof raises the bar for everyone.

Our robots now run autonomously >80% of the time. We still have human teleoperators in-the-loop, who take control when the robot gets stuck or something goes wrong. As autonomy improves, we'll grow our robot-to-operator efficiency until we have one person overseeing 10+ robots. Useful, AI-powered robots are here. And it's only going to get better.

If you watch our robots run autonomously, you'll see exciting examples of emergent intelligent strategies that are learned from the training data. You'll also see examples of moments where the AI gets stuck and an operator takes over. This video has a bunch of examples: 0:25 - moves a stuck item by poking at it 2:04 - operator intervention when the AI becomes confused and stubborn 5:15 - self-correction of a double item pick 8:14 - continues to work after a bin swap 11:24 - lifts the funnel to unstick an item in it
