Landon's message to Christian Pulisic: "This is an opportunity to help and to change your life forever. One of the biggest problems - I speak to people who are at U.S. Soccer. I speak to his sponsors. I speak to his teammates. I speak to the staff and the coaches. People are fed up with the way things are handled around him. And it's not necessarily him, but it's his agents, his family, his hangers-on, the people who are influencing. People are fed up with it. They treat people poorly. They do things poorly. It's always a 'no' whenever you wanna ask, 'Can we do an interview?' It's always a, 'No, you can't get near him.' He doesn't say 'hi' to the commentators who do all the games all the time when they walk by. All the other guys come over and shake hands and say, 'Hello.' There's just this sense about him that you can't get near him. And I actually don't think it's from him. I think it's from I think it's from the people around him."

Landon shares his gripes on pay-to-play in America. “Somebody has to pay for soccer. The problem is, all these youth clubs now are grinding every penny out of every family. I have kids. I can afford to pay for it. My kid has four training jerseys. Why the hell does he need four? They have to use the hotels that our club tells them they have to use because the club’s getting a kickback from it. They have to use the insurance company. They’re traveling to Vegas from San Diego at eight years-old to play a game. This is ridiculous.”

Tim on Christian Pulisic: “There’s a dark side to fame and celebrity. What I would say about him is when someone shows you who they are, you believe them. I think he’s a nice footballer. I still think he’s the best player on the team. Outside of that, you’d have to ask me very direct questions to which I could give you very direct answers.”

Landon says you would've had to drag him off the field in a World Cup knockout game. "The reality is, Tim, [Pulisic] came out of a World Cup knockout game at home with his leg still intact. I'm saying this to you, Tim, and you know it because you've played with me, you would've had to fucking drag me off the field. And I would've punched the doctor in the face and said, 'You're not taking me off the field. Put whatever you need to put in me, and I'm staying on the field.' I told you this before, I never shared this publicly until a few months ago, I played with a torn hamstring against Ghana after the Algeria game. Nobody knew about it. I didn't have to tell anyone. There was no drama around it. I just did it."

Landon gives his perspective on Christian Pulisic's World Cup. "He took the time off from the Gold Cup so that he'd be ready for this season. And he would be fit and healthy and firing on all cylinders. And the reality is, he scored one goal since December. He's not played well for the National Team. He's not played well for Milan... outside of that first 45 minutes against Australia, I thought he was excellent. And he was pretty good against [Paraguay] too. And then he's been injured... In the end, he's your best player, he's your star player and it just didn't happen for him."

Landon gives a passionate stance on how Tim Ream can protect Pulisic if he plays against Australia. "If I'm Tim Ream, probably just before kickoff, I go up to the referee and I say, 'Here's what's gonna happen. The first time Christian touches the ball, he's gonna get smashed, and I better see a yellow card. And if I don't, when we retaliate, I better not see a yellow card. So, if you wanna play that game all day, we're gonna beat the shit out of them, but I better not see a yellow card unless you give whoever smashes Christian a yellow card right away.'"

If America’s best athletes played soccer, could they win the World Cup? Jason Kelce subscribes to this a little bit but acknowledges that soccer is more of a skill game. "I actually don't think it's beneficial to play American football - that beneficial - before you're in high school. I think it's actually better, from an athleticism standpoint, to play soccer, to play hockey, to play sports where you're running. Maybe flag football. But developing spacial awareness, running, cutting..."

Tim after USMNT’s loss last night: “Playing in a hard game that didn’t go our way when the result didn’t matter is success to me.” “Bosnia… they’re better off not even getting on a plane and going to San Francisco because the U.S. is gonna put work in against them.”

Tim on giving out red cards for players covering their mouths: "This is a load of shite. Because, for a very long time, very long time - I'm talking decades - the governing bodies have never been able to get ahold of racism. They don't know what to do. They poop their pants when they have to make a decision based on someone saying something racist. Now, they wanna go back and stand behind players covering their mouths."

Landon after last night’s USMNT loss: “The most most most most important thing that happened last night was Christian got on the field and got a bunch of minutes, looked good, looked sharp, looked fit. He’s our best player, our most important player. No way he could’ve gone three weeks without playing at all and then play in a round of 32 and expect him to be sharp.”

Tim gives his reaction to the USMNT’s loss to Belgium. “This team should be proud of what they achieved together, what they did for U.S. Soccer. They brought this country to new heights. That’s special. After a tough loss, those things don’t feel like they matter, but they do.”
