Children do not start conflicts and they are powerless to stop them. The children caught in this nightmare need all of us to put their safety and security at the forefront. My message to the United Nations Security Council regarding children in the State of Palestine and Israel.

Vaccines are simple, safe and one of the greatest life-saving advancements in medicine. Vaccines eradicated smallpox, and they’re now bringing us very close to ending polio. This #WorldImmunizationWeek, let’s recommit to vaccinating every child.

This year’s Global Report on Food Crises delivers a stark warning: Millions of children are dangerously malnourished. No child should suffer or die from malnutrition in a world of plenty. Urgent action is needed. Children are counting on all of us.

Rafah is one of the most densely populated places on earth, teeming with children &amp; families, some already displaced many times by war in Gaza. Some 1.3M civilians are pushed into a corner, living on streets or shelters. They must be protected. They have nowhere safe to go.

The war in Gaza is taking an unimaginable toll on children. In Rafah, a city of children, the impact of a further escalation would be devastating. The lives of children must be protected. All the hostages must be released. The nightmare for so many families must end.

In #Somalia, communities are dealing with one crisis after another – drought, conflict, aid cuts, and now the impact of the war in the Middle East. What families here want for their children is what every parent wants: a home, food, education, and peace!

Every child, everywhere, deserves to see their fifth birthday. Millions of children are alive today because of vaccines, skilled birth attendants, strengthened health systems and the commitment of families and communities. But today, those gains are at risk of being reversed.

Every child has the right to a clean, healthy and sustainable environment. As world leaders take urgent #ClimateAction, they must listen to the views and experiences of children. UNICEF brought that message to #COP29.

This #WorldChildrensDay, we’re calling for a renewed commitment to build the future children deserve, and that is enshrined in their rights. Let’s listen to children’s voices, and ensure their rights are not only heard, but upheld.

As we mark #WorldAIDSDay we celebrate the progress made towards an AIDS-free generation. Yet we have growing concerns that these hard-earned gains could be slipping away.

It’s been a marathon of meetings in New York with world leaders, public and private partners, and civil society, to put the rights of children at the heart of the global agenda–to keep children safe, protected, healthy and educated. #UNGA

Children and young people are uniquely vulnerable to climate change. Their voices must be heard and their futures protected. World leaders must put them at the heart of all efforts to address the impact of the climate crisis. #COP30

International #EducationDay is a stark reminder that quality education is a right for ALL children. Education is also a catalyst to ensuring that every child, everywhere, learns, grows and thrives in a more peaceful world. Now more than ever, children need peace.

Thank you Swedish Television for putting focus on the desperate situation and suffering of children in #Sudan, including the horrors of El Fasher in Darfur. Children and families must always be protected and have access to humanitarian aid. Most of all, children need peace.

All children and adolescents living with HIV have a right to access treatment and support. By placing rights, dignity, care and empowerment at the center of the HIV response, the world can forge a path to end AIDS as a public health threat by 2030. #WorldAIDSDay2024
