Compared to previous years, TWICE had multiple appearances for consecutive years, delivering several acceptance speeches and performances for the KWDA Girl Group Popularity Award. However, suddenly, when another group took that crown, there was no acceptance speech, no performance, no acknowledgment. Is it because we are not part of the Big 4 companies? Is it because we are still an unknown group? Or is it because we are still a young group with only four months of activity? I need an explanation for why or how this happened. This is neither professional nor a good look for your award show moving forward. We deserved that airtime, those performances, and the opportunity to accept the trophy and give a speech. We weren't waiting for the Music Icon Award; we were waiting to be recognized with the KWDA Girl Group Popularity Award. There are some who doesn't get the point of pushing a popularity poll and may see no value in it at all. They'll say it's a waste of time and money. On the surface level, people would probably think of this KWDA award as an opportunity to just claim another trophy that looks like a shampoo bottle. However, what many don't realize are the things we gain along the way as we commit to get that shampoo bottle. Unity and fandom solidarity. Things that we never thought we would have because of how we started, which then became the attributes that made us the fandom that our idols can be proud of. It makes us look back at how we began and the journey we had to get to where we are now. We first became casual fans of UNIS by witnessing their talents and charisma. We then started to stan as we got more exposed to their charm and gullible personalities. Eventually, many of us has decided to take roles and became essential pieces of this fandom as core fans. Now, we're finally diving even deeper in this rabbit hole to reach yet another level of dedication as fans that no other fandom in the entirety of KPOP history has ever reached before. EverAfters! Casual listeners, devoted stans, and core fans! Everyone! Let's win KWDA and become the rightful owners of the grandest of all titles, SHAMPOO. BOTTLE.
