Mercedes Team Orders - to RUS: we will invert cars at T1. (Russell asks whether Antonelli is fighting for a win - goes completely unanswered) (Russell inverts cars at the very next T1) to ANT: Kimi, we will try and give George overtake, so [try to stay within] 1 second (six seconds later) to ANT: uh... cancel that, cancel that message, cancel that message. Head down. ??????????? at this point: -Antonelli was 11.2s behind Norris -Norris had the faster pace (NOR 1:15.197 vs. ANT 1:15.405) -5 laps remaining Mercedes had ZERO chance of a P1, so WHY did they CANCEL the plan to protect George? What orders were given within those 6 seconds to ruin Russell's chance of a podium?

Toto has said, "ALL Mercedes engines had a software issue from the start onwards." Antonelli LIFTS his throttle, still gets to 318 kph right after. Piastri reaches 337 kph, Norris reaches 344 kph. meanwhile - Russell's speed is CAPPED at >308 kph< for nearly 4 WHOLE SECONDS.

Marcus Dudley is NOT fulfilling the basic roles of a Race Engineer, and Austria FP1 only highlighted it. His only response when Russell radioed for setup suggestions was, “𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙠 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 … 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙙𝙤 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝙩𝙤𝙤𝙡𝙨,” and IMMEDIATELY moved on to count down from 7 to 1. (left vid) Compare this with Bono in the same session. He had found potential problems in his data, asked the driver FIRST if he was feeling the same, and 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝘀𝗲𝘁-𝘂𝗽 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 – and he found one immediately. (right vid) Most Race Engineers lean more towards the latter. They also, like Bono, constantly feed their driver data on WHERE they were losing pace compared to his teammate, and HOW they could improve. They also DO NOT mess up their drivers’ Strat Modes. They constantly suggest Set-Up improvements. THEY ANSWER THEIR DRIVERS’ QUESTIONS. Marcus Dudley does none of these. Him explicitly ignoring Russell’s questions about his pitstop in the Monaco GP cost the driver not only a podium, but also a points finish. He NEVER informs Russell about a specific corner that could be hindering his pace compared to his teammate; the best he does is offer a single lap time. His teammate, on the other hand, is guided through every opportunity. There are multiple instances within any single session in F1 where Dudley prioritizes counting from 5 to 1 backwards OVER answering his driver’s question. Why he is so fixated on counting every number, I do not understand. His primary role is in communication - REPLYING TO QUESTIONS surely must be of utmost priority.

[Russell's Start at the Hungarian GP] : was any of it his fault? No. The Mercedes team was very clear about that too, immediately after the race (for once). Here's Russell's explanation + a visual aid of what made him drop to P21: the engine and its software had a stubborn brain of its own. (Article Source: PlanetF1 | Application/Layout: Multiviewer)
