🗣️Thomas Müller: The referee and FIFA always seemed to favor Messi. I even received a yellow card just for standing beside him. To me, that’s the highest level of unfairness and corruption in football. The reason Messi will never be my GOAT goes back to the 2014 World Cup. It felt like everything was set up for Argentina to win, and when that didn’t happen, Messi was awarded the Golden Ball despite not scoring in the knockout stage and recording just one assist. That’s a decision I’ll never understand. Diego Maradona once described it as a marketing strategy. So I don’t blame everyone who chose Messi they believed what was presented to them. Now, despite all the debates and evidence people point to, many feel they must either defend him or stay silent because football fans rarely change sides. Loyalty runs deep. Cristiano Ronaldo will always be my GOAT. I faced him many times, and his professionalism, attitude, and winning mentality are qualities every footballer should admire. Whatever the media may have said over the years, my experience is that he’s a great person and an incredible competitor.
