My remaining in the APC should not be mistaken for aligning myself with the government in power. I do see greater possibilities for constructive engagement from within, and remaining in the party preserves the opportunity for that engagement. At the same time, I am yet to see a credible alternative that persuades me to take a different political path. But neither party membership nor access to government can become an end in itself. For me, there is a clear condition for becoming truly part of any government: I must retain the freedom to remain truthful to my conscience and to subordinate every political allegiance to God first. I am glad to finally share this excerpt from a recent interview, partly because it lets me respond to a question that has appeared repeatedly on my timelines: Why haven't I been more visibly active in the current political cycle? But my answer points to something larger than me. Over time, I have become increasingly concerned by how quickly we judge one another, especially in politics. We judge by appearances, by what we have heard, by the camp someone belongs to, or by conclusions we formed long before we knew the whole story. I could simply correct the assumptions made about me and move on. But that would miss the more important lesson. So I want to suggest a private exercise, particularly for those of us deeply engaged in politics. You may have heard me say that, ultimately, there are only two sides: Light and Darkness. Take the political party, movement, or tendency you identify with. Privately, make two lists. Put on one side those you believe represent Light, and on the other those you believe represent Darkness. Then ask yourself one uncomfortable question: How do I really know? That question changes everything. We see conduct. We hear speeches. We observe alliances and public choices. These things matter, and we must exercise discernment. But we do not see the human heart. Scripture itself warns of people who see without perceiving and hear without understanding (Mark 4:12). That is why discernment must never become self-righteousness. If we claim to belong to the Light, our first responsibility is not to become better prosecutors of everybody else. It is to submit ourselves more completely to the Spirit of Truth, to examine our own motives, test what comes before us, reject evil, and hold firmly to what is good. Another danger is believing we can live indefinitely somewhere between Light and Darkness, changing sides according to tribe, friendship, political convenience, personal advantage, or the demands of the moment. Jesus Christ leaves us with a much harder standard: “Whoever is not with me is against me.” (Matthew 12:30) I increasingly believe we are living in spiritually consequential times, the End Times, as defined by Biblical prophecies. That makes careless judgment dangerous, but it also makes complacency dangerous. This is a season for repentance, discernment, courage, and deeper alignment with God. So before asking where another politician stands, where another party stands, or even where another movement stands, perhaps the more searching question is: Where do I stand, and what in the way I live proves it? Truth does not bend itself around our politics, our friendships, our ambitions, or our preferences. We must align ourselves with Truth. Watch the full interview here:

This weekend, I joined dignitaries, family and friends in Rivers State to celebrate the life of Dame Ezinne Mary Orduah Amaechi, beloved mother of the former Governor of Rivers State and former Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, as she was laid to rest. Dame Amaechi lived a life marked by faith, grace, strength and devotion to family. Hers was the kind of quiet but enduring influence that continues to speak through the lives of those she raised, served and inspired. My heartfelt condolences go to the entire Amaechi family, and especially to my senior brother and friend, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, at this difficult time. May they find strength in the beautiful memories she leaves behind and consolation in the knowledge that a life lived in faith does not end, but returns to its Creator. VALENTINE OZIGBO CONVENES MAIDEN NATIONAL CONFERENCE OF THE VALIANT MOVEMENT ABUJA, Nigeria — Valentine Ozigbo, business leader and founder of the Valiant Movement, on Saturday, June 13, 2026, convened the organisation's first National Conference, bringing together coordinators and leaders from all 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory for a day of orientation, leadership training, and strategic planning. Held at Hotel De Bently, Abuja, the conference marked a significant milestone for the non-partisan leadership and citizenship development initiative, which is anchored on the principles of courage, character, and capacity. Activities commenced on Friday, June 12, with a welcome dinner that brought state leaders together for the first time as a national body. The gathering provided an opportunity for delegates travelling from across the country to build relationships ahead of the conference, reflecting the movement's belief that enduring national transformation must be rooted in genuine community and shared purpose. Delegates reconvened on Saturday for the main conference, where they were formally introduced to the movement's vision, values, structure, and strategic direction before participating in a packed programme featuring presentations by members of the national leadership team. I don't mean hatred. I don't mean violence. I don't mean the destruction of Nigeria. He argued that political restructuring must be accompanied by a restructuring of values and mindset. "We must restructure how we think, how we lead, how we speak, how we treat truth, and how we understand citizenship and responsibility, because a corrupt mind will eventually corrupt even the best institutions and constitutions." Responding to questions about the movement's political intentions, Ozigbo emphasised that the nationwide structure was not being built to advance any individual's political ambitions. Instead, he described the Valiant Movement as a long-term civic and cultural intervention aimed at transforming leadership culture and citizenship values.
