Sup, and congrats on living in the precise way to land on my profile in this moment! I write stuff and I post about sports a lot. (Also I have a YT channel.) 

So it turns out ABC used AI all throughout Game 1 whenever they went to commercial. Check out this sequence where a modern championship tag spontaneously blooms on the back of Hakeem Olajuwon's jersey, followed by another where Kobe and Ron Harper twitch awkwardly w each other.

And finally the Tony Parker sequence, which hilariously begins with an index finger waving to the right of the screen and I imaging it's because the producers literally combined their "waving a finger" prompt into both AI-ified photos at the same time, which is insane laziness.

Burnout 3 is underrated as one of the very, very best games of all time because you can show Burnout 3 footage to people two decades later and their reaction will still be "hell yeah, this rules. I wanna play this right now."

How much have things changed since 1999? Here's what celebrity row looked like for Game 4 of the Finals - the last year the Knicks made it that far until 2026

One of my favorite old Conan bits was when they'd let their show's graphic designer come out in a recliner and awkwardly rant about something extremely nerdy for two straight minutes.

It's surreal to think that before Jason Collins checked into a game 12 years ago, there had never been a (recognized) openly-gay person who had played in any of the four major US mens sports leagues. A genuine trailblazer.

The most 1999 thing about the previous NBA Finals between the Knicks and the Spurs might be that the Spurs were playing StarCraft against each other in between games

Tim Curry was such a fun actor that he even managed to make those incredibly cheesy Red Alert cutscenes super entertaining. He was someone who made you happy whenever you found out he was in something you were watching. Das vedanya, commander. 🫡

Ever wondered how anime used to be advertised in America? Here's a 1999 ad for the "The Best of Anime II" on VHS, which I just discovered on an old tape and losslessly converted.

Peter Cullen's voice is forever seared into my memory because he did the promo reads for Toonami shows back in the day and he was AMAZING at it. To this day these are my very, very favorite promos ever and he was an enormous reason why. What a legend.

Okay, I had to confirm this. In the 2 minutes after Denver won to go to the Finals, ESPN's cameras actually focused on just the victorious Nuggets for a grand total of 4 seconds. They cut away from the Nuggets celebration for about 90 straight seconds.

The hardest commercial from the year 2000 has to be this Gatorade ad narrated by Keith David in which Vince Carter played one-on-on against a dunking velociraptor
