Much respect to Kyle and JML. Dudes walking around the arena without a seat. No seats left. The guys watched most of the game from random spots in the tunnels.

I’m sure you’ve heard all the stories of Nikola Jokic — the unwitting superstar. When Aaron Gordon arrived at his very first Denver Nuggets practice, Jokic moved his shooting routine to a side hoop so Gordon could shoot on the main basket. When people ask Jokic about his multiple MVP awards, he rolls his eyes and changes the subject. When Jokic is pressed about his diminished role in the NBA All Star game, he jokes about how he’s the greatest in-bounder in All Star history. But I noticed another side to Jokic recently. I saw the quiet, erudite leader who needs not say a word to play the alpha dog in the Nuggets locker room. Rookie Christian Braun held court in the middle of a media scrum one day when Jokic waited off to the side for his duties in front of the cameras. Braun, ever-loquacious that particular day, started going into detail about how the Nuggets planned to defend a particular player. Joker, coy but diplomatic, noticed the conversation headed in a direction that could reveal coaching strategy, so he did what any great leader would do: he stepped in and told Braun his media session was over. “Very good my brother. That’s the last question. Goodbye.” Braun didn’t bat an eye. Heeding Jokic’s instructions, the rookie stood up and mid-sentence excused himself from the media scrum. Jokic thanked his teammate, gave him a friendly pat on the back, and Sombor Shuffled his way into the media swarm. Thus began five minutes of vague Jokerisms and witty repartee. Nikola Jokic never glosses himself. He never criticizes a coach or a teammate. He never demeans an opponent. And by God, with English as a second language, he never lets a teammate divulge a game plan. He’s an egoless kingpin. And he will snatch your soul on a basketball court.

Carmelo Anthony — huge Jokic fan — works for NBC now. He and his crew will be in Denver soon. And I hope he’s well-received. Time to give the man his roses. He gave me one for my wife. It is Valentine’s Day. Saved me $20. AltitudeTV

According to the NBA’s 2-minute report, the officials missed a foul on Orlando in the closing seconds last night. They admit foul should have been called on Anthony Black raking Jamal Murray’s arm as he begins his dribble. Two foul shots should have rewarded to the Denver Nuggets.

Such an impressive for the Denver Nuggets in so many ways. 1) Nikola Jokic proves once again why he’s the best player on the planet 2) I thought this game was over when the Nuggets led big with 3 minutes to play in regulation 3) I thought this game was over when the Wolves led by 7 in OT 4) I thought this game was over about five times 5) The Nuggets are now 3-0 against Minnesota. Full Ownership 6) The Nuggets won this game with three starters tied behind their back 7) Nikola Jokic is the greatest player on earth 8) Jamal Murray is a bad man 9)WTF did I just see? 10) Merry Christmas

So as I board the team bus, standing behind rookie Christian Braun who is still double-strapping his pink Elsa backpack, I can’t help but think how these Denver Nuggets are a mirror-image of last year’s Colorado Avalanche. I mean, the parallels are ridiculous. Both teams were years in the making, built on the shoulders of patience and persistence. Built atop a foundation of otherworldly draft picks who eventually became household names. Jokic, Mackinnon, Murray, Makar. Coaches who nurtured and developed those players. General managers who sprinkled in the requisite championship pieces. Both teams spent several years flirting with greatness before finally cracking the code. The Avs bulldozed through last year’s Stanley Cup playoffs, finishing the postseason 16-4. If the Nuggets win Monday night, not only will they secure the city’s first NBA championship, they will finish the postseason … 16-4. #BringItIn
