The Health Sec described the 35% pay demand from the Junior Doctors’ Committee as reasonable, at a cost of an additional £3bn each year. He must come clean about if he will ask the Chancellor to raise taxes, or if she will be asking him to cut frontline services to pay for it.

After 14 months of relentless campaigning, Labour has been forced into a partial u-turn on the Family Farm Tax. Throughout this difficult time, the Conservatives have consistently led the fight in parliament and stood shoulder-to-shoulder with protesting farmers AGAINST the tax. Rural communities should never have been put through such levels of distress, pain and panic.

Labour’s choices will scar our landscapes and nature forever. Ed Miliband’s unrealistic net zero targets will industrialise our undeveloped countryside with pylons, enormous substations, solar panel estates and wind turbines. They will destroy people’s homes, our cherished landscapes and nature, as well as prime agricultural land. In Louth & Horncastle, we understand all too well the damage this will bring to communities and our landscape. The Conservatives and I will continue to stand up for our countryside, defending local voices and protecting the character of the landscapes which feed and encapsulate Great Britain.

CropLife warns that Labour’s UK-EU reset is a cliff-edge for British farming. 5 urgent measures to save British farming and food production. 🌱 Reasonable, deliverable and can be executed at speed. 👇 1️⃣Stop the changes to APR and BPR announced in the Autumn Budget. 2️⃣Open your promised new SFI scheme for applications urgently. 3️⃣Immediate rollover of the Fruit and Vegetable Aid Scheme for another year. 4️⃣Ensure support for adequate forage for this winter. 5️⃣Rapidly review the impact of the Extended Producer Responsibility on the food, drink and hospitality sectors. We’re putting party politics to one side in the national interest. We hope the Government will too and implement these emergency measures.
