I strongly urge the Punjab Government CMOPb to ensure suitable employment opportunities for the 2600 ITI-qualified apprentices who have successfully completed their apprenticeship training in spirit of National Apprenticeship act . These young men and women invested time in acquiring skills and gaining hands-on experience with the legitimate expectation that their training would translate into meaningful career opportunities. what incentive remains for our youth to pursue apprenticeship programmes The concerns of these apprentices must be addressed through dialogue, sensitivity, and constructive engagement—not force. As a commitment to supporting skilled youth, Sun Foundation India will extend assistance in facilitating job opportunities for these candidates in private sector Punjab's youth are not asking for charity; they are asking for a fair opportunity. From our World Class Skill Centres in Delhi, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Pahuwind and Patiala, to Nirmal Chaya for Tihar inmates and Krishna Kutir for elder women and skilling for drug de-addiction and rehabilitation patients in Punjab. Guided by the cause of humanity — through medical aid during COVID, support during calamities like floods, and rescue missions from Afghanistan and Libya, alongside Mission Hope for Oman. Each step carried a dream. Each effort touched a life. Today, as we train 5,000 youth annually, our hearts remain set on a larger purpose — to skill and place 10,000 youth every year. Movie Satluj by Diljit Dosanjh is a Chilling reminder of Punjab killing fields & an eye‑opener on the tragic, systematic killing of thousands of Punjabi youth in fake encounters during the militancy period. Jaswant Singh Khalra, a bank director in Amritsar, turned human‑rights activist after 1984, when police were given sweeping powers to detain and eliminate “suspects” as alleged militants. He began investigating these fake encounters and quietly collecting records from municipal cremation grounds. In Amritsar alone, he found documentary evidence of 6,107 bodies of young people killed and then secretly cremated by the police. Further research in other districts revealed thousands more such cases. The National Human Rights Commission later published lists of identified bodies cremated by the police in the districts of Amritsar, Majitha, and Tarn Taran between June 1984 and December 1994, and both the Supreme Court of India and the NHRC accepted the authenticity of this data. In its judgment in Prithpal Singh v. State of Punjab, the Supreme Court described Khalra as a human‑rights activist who exposed the abduction, killing, and illegal cremation of unclaimed bodies, noting that the police had been eliminating young persons on the pretext that they were militants and disposing of their bodies without record. Based on his findings, Khalra estimated that more than 25,000 Sikhs may have been illegally killed and cremated by the state. The Centre will offer courses in Assistant Beauty Therapist, Fashion Designer, Warehouse Management, Digital Mitra, General Duty Assistant (Junior Nurse), and Customer Care Executive, equipping trainees with practical skills and pathways to sustainable employment. As the doors open, a new chapter begins for the youth of Faridkot, helping them build successful careers and contribute meaningfully to Punjab’s growth and progress. It is heartening to note that Delhi University has launched “Sikh Martyrdom in Indian History” as a General Elective but it currently covers only period 1500–1765 only. It must be extended to 1947 to include Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s reign and the Sikhs role in India’s freedom struggle. Also, the BA History (Hons) core syllabus of DU barely mentions Sikh history there is only one reference of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. It’s time DU integrates Sikh History meaningfully in the curriculum of BA / hons History subject.

A heart-wrenching video of the 19-year-old student #Pallavi from Himachal Pradesh who died after being ragged and harassed has emerged, in which she speaks about repeated instances of sexual assault by a professor in her college. The teenager, a student of the Government Degree College in Dharamshala, died on December 26 .
