🇮🇹 Italy faces a potential "George Floyd moment" Migrant rights organizations and the far-left are starting to organize streets protests after a Moroccan migrant died while being pinned down to the ground by the police after going on rampage, destroying cars and threatening people on the streets of Bologna. Officers arriving used pepper spray on Fakir and pinned him to the asphalt to handcuff him. Viral footage shows Fakir struggling to breathe and yelling before losing consciousness. Paramedics were unable to revive him. Hundreds of migrants and far-left activists took to the streets in the Pilastro neighborhood on Sunday evening, chanting anti-police slogans and kneeling with raised fists — comparing the incident to the 2020 death of George Floyd. Italian left-leaning groups and Bologna’s center-left mayor, Matteo Lepore, backed the migrant protest. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s government is defending the policemen, saying that the officers were simply doing their duty after having been called by “exasperated citizens.”

🇨🇦 Rabbi Michael Moshe Mizrahi killed in Montreal shooting A man killed in a shooting incident in Montreal today has been named as Rabbi Michael Moshe Mizrahi, a member of the local Chabad center. Rabbi Mizrahi, a well-known member of Montreal’s Jewish community who regularly attended the Chabad MADA Centre, was tragically caught in the crossfire during the Côte-des-Neiges shooting. He was rushed to the hospital but later succumbed to his injuries. The ambush took place near Jewish schools, kosher businesses, and synagogues.

🇫🇷 National Rally leader Marine Le Pen has been sentenced to 3 years in prison (2 of which are suspended) and fined €100,000 The remaining one year will be served under house arrest with an electronic bracelet. The court also reduced her political ineligibility from 5 years to 45 months (3.7 years), of which she has already served 30 months. Because Le Pen had already begun serving the disqualification from the initial ruling, the court ruled that the ineligibility period has been satisfied, making her eligible to run in France’s April 2027 presidential election. Le Pen has previously stated that she would not seek the presidency if forced to campaign while wearing an electronic ankle monitor.
