On the final days of Sayyed Ali Khamenei’s funeral procession, the US has escalated its attacks against Iran, including attacking the railway VPol and other journalists traveled on from Tehran to Mashhad, in an attempt to prevent mourners from attending the burial. VPol journalist Calla Walsh (Calla) reports from Mashhad, as Trump promises more attacks in the coming hours. ■ At a NATO meeting in Turkey, Trump claimed the MoU is “over” and described the Iranian people as a “cancer” that needs to be cut out early, while Iran has struck US bases across the region, and vowed that any further aggression will result in even more severe and unprecedented retaliatory strikes.

Both the US and Cuba were founded upon settler colonialism, genocide of Indigenous peoples, and chattel slavery of abducted Africans. So why is US nationalism reactionary, while Cuban nationalism is revolutionary? ■ Nationalism itself isn’t inherently reactionary or revolutionary — it depends on the context, whether it is an oppressor nation or an oppressed nation, whether it is in service of liberation or in service of imperialism and its national comprador class. ■ Just like Israeli nationalism, US nationalism emerged as a settler identity built upon genocide. ■ Martyred Palestinian revolutionary Basel Al-Araj argued that the Israeli occupation is “almost a carbon copy of America,” and the best approach to win US people over to the Palestinian cause is “to dismantle the idea of America in their minds… It is impossible to win over an American to our side without them opposing the idea of America.” By Calla

Anarchism is “a self-neutralizing, non-ideology in many respects” that fails to “identify the primary contradiction” as imperialism, said Evan Katsounis, a US-Greek anti-imperialist organizer, in an interview with VPol journalist Calla. ■ “The statephobia that is inherent to anarchism” promotes a “notion of an ethical solidarity of all peoples against all regimes,” erasing the distinction between states that are “imperialist, Jewish supremacist, or white supremacist formations,” and the “anti-imperialist state and national movements within the periphery” struggling for liberation through their state-building projects. ■ “To be across the board in a dogmatic and uncritical way against all states in all circumstances… is an infantile analysis,” said Katsounis, arguing that organizers within the imperial core should focus on “building a strategy around anti-imperialist international principles in support of national liberation movements.” ■ Full interview will be published on VPol’s Youtube soon.

VPol journalist Calla Walsh (Calla) reports from Tehran’s Grand Mosalla mosque, where the bodies of martyred Iranian leader Sayyed Ali Khamenei and his family members have been held before is buried in Mashhad, in what is set to be one of the largest funeral processions in world history. ■ Close to 100 countries sent diplomatic and cultural delegations, despite a coordinated US campaign in all its embassies and missions to threaten host countries not to attend the funeral procession. ■ 13 countries, including 3 Eastern European countries, 5 African countries, 2 Gulf countries, and 2 East Asian countries withdrew from participating in the funeral due to US pressure according to Tasnim. But high-level delegations from Cuba, the DPRK, China, Russia, Burkina Faso, Yemen, Nicaragua, Turkey, Egypt, Qatar, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, and many Asian countries, and even Saudi Arabia, as well as delegations from the Lebanese and Palestinian resistance factions were present.

Israel killed Rahma, a Sri Lankan foreign worker, in an airstrike on Habboush in South Lebanon after she chose to remain behind to care for abandoned animals. In a previous voice message, she explained: "I'm not afraid of death. I'm afraid for the animals." ■ "I hope Israel strikes me and my animals. If we are killed, then let it be together. I'm not afraid of death; I'm afraid for the animals. God created me as He created them, yet out of fear for your own lives, you left them behind,” Rahma said.

Israeli occupation forces are smashing surveillance cameras across Tel Aviv and other Israeli-occupied cities as part of a media blackout policy aimed at concealing the extent of damage resulting from Iranian missile strikes. ■ According to Larry Johnson, a former analyst for a US intelligence agency, the reason Israel is “controlling the information so tightly is that they are taking a severe beating.” ■ Larry Wilkerson, a retired US Army Colonel, added: “The amount of damage the Iranians are inflicting on Tel Aviv is very bad and these attacks are relentless; this is not a one-off hit. It continues relentlessly.”

Iranian legal scholar Dr. Helyeh Doutaghi explains how it is materially and analytically incorrect to equate between the police in the imperial core, which acts as a domestic arm for the empire, and police in Global South countries like Iran that are resisting imperialism. In Iran, the police is "not the enemy" of the people, but is defending their national sovereignty from US and Israeli destabilization.

“The West completely” misunderstands “the discourse of Islam and Shi'ism” that Iran’s “resistance is rooted in,” said Dr. Helyeh Doutaghi (Helyeh Doutaghi | حليا دوطاقي) in an interview with Prof. Bikrum Gill (Bikrum Gill) on The East is a Podcast (The East is a Podcast). ■ The martyrdom of Sayyed Khamenei “also reinforced this, at least for Iranians inside, people have been talking about how Imam Hussein, who was killed with his entire family, he also refused to bow, he refused to hide, and [Sayyed Khamenei] was killed also with his wife, with his daughter, with his niece, with several members of his family.” ■ “This has shifted how propaganda has also shaped some Iranians and how they think about their leadership… they're seeing that it is the leaders and military commanders willing to… die for Iran's protection and for broader liberation of the region, against everything that western propaganda has been trying to make people think or believe.” #VPol

On the first day of the “ceasefire” in southern Lebanon, the IOF continued artillery shelling in occupied villages, attacked journalist Hadi Hoteit in Kfar Tebnit, and bombed young men returning home to Majdal Zoun. ■ When the IOF tried to advance in Kfar Tebnit and Majdal Zoun, Hezbollah reportedly responded with two barrages of Kornet missiles. ■ As the US, Israeli occupation, and the US/Saudi imposed Lebanese authorities continue to try and separate the Lebanese front from the broader Iran-US memorandum of understanding brokered by Pakistan, the resistance has vowed there is no return to pre-March 2, and Israeli violations will be responded to. Hezbollah urged the people of the south to wait to return to their villages, framing the new “Peace Deal” as merely a “prelude” to total liberation of all Lebanese lands, freedom for the abductees in Israeli prisons, and total reconstruction.

98 years ago, Ernesto “Che” Guevara was born. What made Che unique was the unorthodox current of Marxism-Leninism he represented ■ Unlike those who believed revolution had to wait until all the perfect material conditions emerged, Che argued that revolutionaries had a duty to create those conditions through struggle itself. His theory of guerrilla warfare held that even a small group of committed revolutionaries could spark broader popular movements rather than waiting indefinitely for history to move on its own. ■ He believed that revolution was not just an external process, but an internal, almost spiritual, struggle to develop new values, ethics, and forms of consciousness: the creation of a “New Man.” ■ Che also rejected the idea that socialism could be built in one state and survive indefinitely in isolation, and his life reflected the belief that the struggle for socialism had to be global or risk total defeat. “We, as journalists in Lebanon, will honor their memory by continuing to work today and tomorrow and every day until the Israeli army is out of South Lebanon,” said Courtney Bonneau courtneybonneauimages, VPol Contributor and photojournalist, after the IOF assassinated Lebanese journalists Ali Choieb and Fatima Ftouni, as well as photojournalist Mohammad Ftouni today. ■ Ali Choieb, veteran resistance journalist with Al Manar, and Fatima Ftouni, correspondent to southern Lebanon for Al Mayadeen, were assassinated in a deliberately targeted Israeli drone strike on several press vehicles in Jezzine, southern Lebanon while fulfilling their professional duties. ■ “Today, while documenting these war crimes and the Israeli invasion of Lebanon, they became victims of a war crime themselves.” #VPol

The US, Israel, and Syria’s HTS regime are taking advantage of the earthquakes in Venezuela to use “humanitarian aid” as a Trojan Horse to further entrench their military, intelligence, and political interests in the country. ■ The Trump administration sent warships, transport planes, troops, and took over airport operations, creating a “humanitarian” excuse to deploy assets enabling a long-term foothold and effective occupation. ■ The Syrian White Helmets, established by Western intelligence and embedded in Western-backed terrorist groups like Al Qaeda, quickly flew to Venezuela, marking their first-ever overseas deployment. ■ The IOF is also sending a rescue team, despite having no formal diplomatic relations with Venezuela since 2009. Why did the US and Israel attack Iran’s Sharif University, its most advanced site of technological development? Dr. Farhad Ardalan, a renowned Iranian physicist and professor at Sharif University, explained in an interview with VPol contributor Dr. Helyeh Doutaghi (Helyeh Doutaghi | حليا دوطاقي). ■ “We have to have an advanced military. We have to have an advanced industry. Israelis know this. They want to prevent it. So, this war was about prevention, destroying the industry in Iran, destroying the state structure, if possible, destroying the state itself to tear apart Iran into various pieces, and especially the modern military. Everybody knows that the future wars will be based on AI,” hence the targeting of the university’s data center/AI hub, and “drones, which we see are very important, already are a significant part of the military.” #VPol

Despite countless testimonies, Palestinian women held in Israeli torture prisons continue to be treated as a “complicated issue,” pushed aside whenever the West speaks of “women’s rights.” Their suffering is rarely acknowledged, and their humanity too often ignored. This is not one real story, but a story created from dozens of real testimonies brought together to offer a glimpse into what Palestinian women endure at the hands of the Israeli occupation. (Mira)

Hezbollah’s fiber-optic FPV drones, which cost under $500, are disabling Israeli Merkava tanks worth $5 to 7 million. The IOF does not have a single weapon in their arsenal that can detect these new drones, which are completely immune to traditional electronic jamming devices. VPol journalist Calla Walsh (Calla) explains. ■ Rather than a radio link, the fiber-optic drones are physically tethered to their operator by an ultra-thin fiber-optic cable that stretches for up to 60km, transmitting video and data back to the pilot. ■ The Israeli occupation has been shocked by the introduction of these drones into the battlefield, and there is no indication the IOF had any foresight or intel on Hezbollah’s supply chain. ■ These drones were first deployed by Russia and Ukraine, but there’s no sign of direct Russian involvement, nor is there any need for it. Rather, Hezbollah is closely studying other warzones to innovate and adapt for their own battle against Israeli occupation, and information on fiber-optic FPVs is open-source. ■ Israeli media describes it as “a technological arms race, and although Israel is at the forefront of interception technology, there is currently no complete solution to the threat… the battlefield in Lebanon proves that sometimes a single thin thread can threaten even the most heavily armored technological systems… Israel possesses Arrow missiles and F-35 Lightning II aircraft, but it has failed to deal with cheap explosive drones in southern Lebanon.”

Hamza Hammoud drove his motorcycle from Beirut to southern Lebanon, crossed the Lebanese border into northern occupied Palestine, and confronted the IOF before being martyred on Tuesday, armed only with his personal rifle. ■ Hamza’s operation shattered the illusion of the IOF’s control of occupied southern Lebanon. The Jerusalem Post “the penetration itself into Israeli territory at a time when the [IOF] nominally has said it has full control of southern Lebanon was a major embarrassment for the military.” ■ Even the IOF’s Chief of Staff began conducting a personal investigation into the “unprecedented” operation that dealt a further psychological blow to the northern settlements. ■ But while the security and military aspects of the story are significant, what Hamza did was much greater than these elements alone.

The IRGC’s new target list of companies “involved in terrorist operations” includes Tesla, Palantir, Oracle, Google, Apple, Meta, Microsoft, Dell, HP, Boeing, General Electric, Nvidia, JP Morgan, and others. ■ Iran understands how modern imperialist wars are waged, and is striking at the heart of the US-led capitalist system: its digital-financial-military-industrial complex that provides the infrastructure and digital nervous system for war, even more so than state institutions, through cloud infrastructure, AI, data fusion, logistics, semiconductors, and public narrative control. ■ On Tuesday, the IRGC vowed that “From now on, for every assassination, one US company will be destroyed,” setting a deadline for Wednesday, 8pm Tehran time, for the US and Israel to stop carrying out assassinations. They urged employees “to immediately leave their workplaces to save their lives” and local residents to evacuate within a 1km radius. #VPol

Could a single Hezbollah fiber-optic FPV strike could have a greater impact than an entire wave of missiles? Every resistance operation has two key components: its military aspect, and its propaganda aspect. Analysis by VPol journalist Calla: ■ In the case of a missile strike, the Israeli occupation imposes a tight censorship regime, and the impact is by and large only seen or heard by the settlers in its immediate surrounding. But the video of an FPV strike against the IOF in southern Lebanon or northern occupied Palestine, however, is broadcast and viewed by millions. ■ Each video of a successful strike shows to the Israelis that, despite what the occupation regime promised, a three-year ongoing war of aggression did not reach the “decisive victory” or “elimination of threats” promised, especially to the northern settlements. ■ As Israeli censorship and lies about casualty counts continue, the resistance channels become more reliable news sources for Israelis than their own government to see if their IOF family or friends were struck in the latest video.

Was Malcolm X’s grandson also assassinated? Malcolm Latif Shabazz was killed in Mexico City in 2013 in what media portrayed as a bar fight over an unpaid bill, but his supporters blame on “US and Zionist intelligence networks.” ■ Raised in a family torn apart by COINTELPRO and his grandfather’s assassination, Malcolm Jr had a rough childhood, and discovered revolutionary Islam while he was incarcerated. ■ He studied Shia Islam in the seminary of the Sayyeda Zainab shrine in Damascus, then embarked on a journey of activism in the US, also visiting Venezuela, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Libya, meeting with leader Muammar Gaddafi a week before the NATO attack began. ■ As he became more public and vocal, he faced increasing federal surveillance and targeted arrests, and warned he was a target for assassination. At 28 years old, he was killed, and there still aren’t clear answers. #VPol
