Here are the graves. This Orange Shirt Day we are returning the Brandon Indian Residential School cemetery grounds to the Sioux Valley Dakota Nation on behalf of many First Nations whose children are buried here. This is one of the most well documented burial grounds at a residential school in Canada with not only church and historical records but also contemporaneous newspaper articles describing what happened to these children. Manitoba, you’ve changed your clocks for the last time. We are just going to stay on summer time a.k.a. Central Daylight Time, a.k.a. The time it is right now. What does this mean for Manitobans? No more changing clocks twice a year. More evening daylight in summer time. More light for your drive home from work in the winter. Less disruptions to sleep and routines. No more springing forward or falling back. So this November 1st, the times they will NOT be a changin’.

Hate and racism have no place in Manitoba. Today at Nagar Kirtan, we saw what is far stronger: faith, community and people gathered in celebration. That spirit is stronger than any hateful and racists graffiti. To Manitoba’s Sikh and Punjabi communities, thank you for everything you contribute to our province. Crown Royal is Canadian Whiskey made in Gimli, Manitoba. It puts our country and our province on the map globally. Let’s protect these Canadian jobs in Gimli, as well as in Quebec and Ontario. I’m asking my friend Doug to not follow through on boycotting this Canadian product made from the waters of Lake Winnipeg by hard working blue-collar Manitobans. We should all cheers to that!
