🚨 #BREAKING Somalia condemns #Israel over the recognition of a “separatist enclave” and warns of regional security fallout. NEW YORK - Somalia has strongly condemned Israel at the United Nations Security Council on Wednesday over the recognition of a “separatist enclave” in its northwestern region, saying the move violates its sovereignty and territorial integrity. Speaking at the United Nations Security Council, #Somalia’s Permanent Representative, Abukar Osman (Baale) , rejected the reported appointment of ''a so-called ambassador'' to the ''separatist enclave''', saying the move amounts to a violation of Somalia’s sovereignty. The Somali delegation Somali Mission to UN-NY alleged that Israeli diplomatic engagement with the Somalia's separatist administration of “#Somaliland” may be linked to broader strategic and military interests in the Horn of #Africa and Red Sea, including the potential establishment of Israeli military bases under diplomatic cover. Somalia further warned that such developments could exacerbate instability in the Horn of Africa and the wider Red Sea region, both of which are already facing heightened security challenges. The delegation also raised broader geopolitical concerns, referring to what it described as wider patterns of displacement-related policies affecting #Palestinians, and warned against any demographic or territorial changes under such pretexts. It said the developments reflect a broader erosion of international law, continued impunity, and a lack of political will to resolve long-standing conflicts at their root causes. Israeli authorities have not publicly responded to the specific allegations raised during the Security Council session. The remarks came during ongoing discussions at the Security Council on escalating geopolitical tensions and their implications for international peace and security.

#BreakingNews Ex-#Puntland President Accuses #Somaliland of Aiding Al-Shabaab Amid Ongoing ISIS Battle MOGADISHU, #Somalia – Former Somali Prime Minister and ex-President of #Puntland Dr. Abdiweli Ali Gaas, (Dr. Abdiweli M. Ali ) has made explosive claims regarding Somaliland's support for terrorist groups, specifically Al-Shabaab. "I am sharing authentic information, and I am not exaggerating," Dr. Gaas stated, asserting that Somaliland has been complicit in aiding Al-Shabaab. "They supported them extensively," he added, describing Somaliland as a key enabler for the group. Dr. Gaas, who served as Puntland’s President during a period of instability, revealed that the support was not only logistical but also medical. "Somaliland became a safe haven for terrorists," he said, noting that their hospital in #Ceerigaabo, Manhal, treated Al-Shabaab’s wounded. The revelation comes just a day after #Puntland forces repelled an ISIS attack on an army base in the Dharjaale region on December 31, 2024. The assault, which began with a suicide bombing targeting the base, was swiftly repelled, resulting in heavy losses for the militants, with 10 ISIS fighters, including eight foreign nationals, killed. Amid these military operations against ISIS, Dr. Gaas’s claims about #Somaliland’s alleged support for terrorist groups gain further significance. "We have a full dossier detailing their support for Al-Shabaab and ISIS," he said, accusing Somaliland’s leadership of relying on lies and betrayal to advance their interests. "Now, they are reaping the consequences of their actions," he added, stressing that the secession project would fail. As tensions in #Somalia's northern regions rise, the authenticity of these claims and their impact on regional stability remain uncertain, but they have already intensified the ongoing political and military crisis.
