when the editor is hackable, even the cursor becomes UI. like a plugin to add real-time feedback to the caret.

Turns out the "IDE but for notes and tasks" is also becoming my... IDE! More and more I just make notes and boards with specs of what needs to be built, connect a bunch of code agents to thymer all working in parallel, have them pick up open tasks, build it and update progress back in the notes.

notes as a virtual file system, with in-app terminal (desktop + web). agents can use the same vfs + bash so the whole workspace becomes programmable.

What if agents could just write to local files and changes show up in a real-time multiplayer web app?

The best API is no API. Instead of MCPs and CLIs, Markdown Mirror will let agents edit state directly through files while the app translates those changes into multiplayer operations behind the scenes. Files as the API.

The cool thing about local-first web apps is you don't have to choose anymore, which was one of the goals for Thymer: real-time collaboration, E2EE sync, and web access, while your data also lives locally and the app works offline. That means tools like Claude (or local LLMs) can get fast access to your workspace data. There's already an MCP plugin and here's a quick prototype where Claude Code talks directly to offline workspace data stored in the browser DB.
