Aspen Acres Fire Update: The fire has grown to approximately 85,000 acres today, prompting evacuation orders for Colorado City, Wetmore, Bishop Castle, and several other communities throughout the surrounding area. The good news is that there are currently no red flag warnings in effect, which should help limit extreme fire behavior, and, fingers crossed, the area gets some much-needed moisture today as storms will fire up in Southeast Colorado.

Aspen Acres Fire Update: The fire has grown to approximately 85,000 acres today, prompting evacuation orders for Colorado City, Wetmore, Bishop Castle, and several other communities throughout the surrounding area. 🔥ARSON ARREST: Police in Jefferson County, CO say a 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of starting a brush fire near State Highway 74 on June 29th. Authorities say the suspect was spotted near the fire at the time of ignition and found a lighter near the origin point. An officer was able to quickly extinguish the flames until fire crews arrived. Colorado has more than 75k acres burning across multiple wildfires as of June 30th. Suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. #COwx
