He paid for the first few months before claiming his money was tied up in the bank and would soon be released. For months, he made one promise after another—presenting documents, claiming he was selling land, and even involving a man he called his “chairman,” who also promised to pay. When none of the promises came through, the matter was reported to the police. The son signed an undertaking after his chairman assured everyone the debt would be settled. Then, just a day before the agreed payment date, both men disappeared. The elderly woman was allegedly left behind on the floor of the apartment with no one to care for her.
