The Supreme Court has directed the UP District Magistrate to appear before it and explain why the administration issued a show-cause notice to a young college-going protestor and demanded a personal bond of ₹5 lakh from him. A student exercising his right to protest should not be intimidated through such disproportionate action. The UP administration must explain itself before the Supreme Court.
