Say it one 👏🏻 more 👏🏻 time 👏🏻 Joe- we need to hear you! We are once again so grateful for Joe Rogan sharing on the importance of regenerative agriculture with his guest, Matt Taibbi. Together, let’s dismantle Big Food’s lies about plant based meats being better for the environment.

There is talk about domesticated food animals soon being vaccinated with #mRNA. We want our customers to know that we will not vaccinate our animals with #mRNAvaccines. We believe there is a time and place for vaccinations, but they must be used sparingly. If livestock are raised in an environment where they can express their natural instincts, they probably won't need many (if any) vaccines. We hope to one day move away from all vaccines on our farm- we are close, but not there yet. Everyone should know that over 80% of the antibiotics produced today are consumed by domesticated food animals. You read that right, even considering all of the antibiotics humans are prescribed, it's not even 20% of what's produced goes to people-the rest administered to food animals. It would only make sense that in order for vaccine companies to move from "very profitable" to "obscenely profitable" would be to capture the animal agriculture market. I'm not sure that this would ever pass legislation, but law or not, Big Ag is highly influenced by Big Pharma. The multinational meat companies would certainly choose to mandate this if there was an opportunity for a shared profit. In closing, please know: We don't believe in a blanket, one-size-fits-all approach to our health or our livestock. We will not add vaccinations for our livestock- we are moving in the other direction hoping to give fewer. (And, we already give very few). If this is adopted and there is a "panic" for food from livestock that hasn't had the MRNA vaccine, we will choose to honor the demand from our loyalty members and employees first. If you are not a part of that group, we cannot guarantee we will have any product for you. We are certainly not trying to promote panic- but, we do intend to notify our customers of how we will operate in times of growing demand. We screwed up during the pandemic- we won't do that again.

Recently, we lost a few followers, but we gained some, too. So, we wanted to be sure that if you followed this account, you knew exactly who we are and what we do. Who: White Oak Pastures is a 6th generation family owned farm. While we are family owned, we are far from family run. If you want to know much about what we do, you’ll have to talk to the 155 hard-working employees that keep this place going. Where: We own/rent/lease about 5,000 acres of South Georgia land to graze our cattle, goats, sheep, hogs and poultry, which we hand-butcher in our USDA-inspected, processing plant. When: The time is NOW. Centralized, industrialized and commoditized agriculture has been successful in creating efficiency, but it’s also created systems of fragility. We know food systems should be resilient and local. NOW is the time to know your farmer. What: Regenerative agriculture nourishes our bodies and revives our communities. Livestock, when managed properly, can rebuild our depleted soils. Why: We humans have successfully used technology to break the cycles of nature. Doing this has yielded many negative consequences: dead zones in the gulf, drying aquifers, devastation in rural America… the list can go on forever. We know production systems like ours can reverse so many of these negative consequences. We hope you’ll join us on our journey of working with Nature to create an abundance again.

Market consolidation is something all consumers should know about. And, it’s gotten so much worse in the last 30 years. Something as vital as our food should not be so centralized to so few companies. We are hopeful there will be more and more farms serving their local market to form a more safe and resilient food system.

HOLY COW! Beef tallow got a specific mention in the revised food pyramid! Excited to see more folks recognize the benefits of some of the finest cooking aids around. Our commissary team has been rendering and jarring tallow for over a decade, and something tells me they are going to stay pretty busy! Secretary Kennedy Robert F. Kennedy Jr Calley Means

When I decided to ignore background noise of experts and consultants, things began to fall in place on my farm. I stopped trying to "fix" Nature, and I started working to understand how Her cycles function. I realized I could never take dominion over Her- I shifted and sought to work with Her. In all of our efforts to outwit and improve Her, humans are an unworthy opponents- to Her, we are nothing but a fart in a hurricane. Kawasaki USA

Mandatory Country Of Origin Labeling on beef was rescinded in 2015, and since that time, American shelves have been flooded with beef labeled "Product of the USA," despite the fact that it was from animals born, raised and slaughtered overseas. It appears that after the first of this coming year, "Product of USA" will once again mean that the animals were born, raised and slaughtered in the United States of America. Unfortunately, this is not a mandatory ruling, so no country of origin is required to be put on the label. It is our hope that this small change will once again allow American farmers to differentiate domestic product from imported product.

We are grateful for friends like Nicole Shanahan, who use their platforms to help consumers better understand food production. We appreciate the opportunity to show people how we farm, and we are grateful for the awareness spread by those who care enough to visit.

Prior to WWII, the USA produced more lamb in our country than we could consume - we were an exporter of lamb. Today, we import over 80% of the lamb consumed. Beef imports grew 24% in 2024 as compared to 2023. Beef prices remain at record highs, while the cattle population remains at record lows. The United States of America is now importing more beef than we are exporting. We fear the same that is currently true for lamb imports/exports will soon be the reality for beef. Food Security should have the support and attention from both sides of the isle. If we cannot feed our people, what else can we do?

We are excited to share The Rebel Cowboy, a documentary shot and produced by our friend, David Blodgett. We were honored to have David join us on the farm last Summer for a project, but we had no idea it would turn out this wonderful! This piece does a great job breaking down the evolution of industrial food and our journey to a different kind of agriculture. Please take a few minutes to check out our story at the link below. Solar grazing is a wonderful way to keep land in agriculture while producing clean energy. Our sheep keep the vegetation managed on about 3,000 acres of solar arrays owned and operated by our friends at Silicon Ranch . Lambing season is always exciting!

The arrival of imported grassfed beef in 2015 marked the beginning of a steady decline in margin and demand for domestically produced products. Farmers like us have worked tirelessly over the last decade building a market for "local" products in a global market. We are delighted that this new ruling, effective January 2026, will require meat packers to exclusively market "product of the USA" on beef from cattle that have been born, raised, and slaughtered in the United States of America. It never should have been anything but this the whole time. We all see this ruling as a bright light at the end of a long, dark tunnel. Read more of Will's Wisdom on this topic in his full blog here:

Twenty years ago, the only specie of livestock on our farm was cattle- we hadn't fully recognized the value in polycultureal production systems and multispecie grazing. Today, we are proud to have a flock of about 2,000 head of sheep who help manage the vegetation on a couple of Silicon Ranch Corporation solar arrays near our farm. We are grateful for the opportunity to positively impact the soil beneath these panels with grazing ruminants who magically turn grass into pounds of nutritious protein for customers who care about the land, animals, and our rural economy.

We posted this news article as a social story a couple of days ago and received many direct messages in response. It’s clear this needs discussing. Tyson Foods has dumped 87 BILLION gallons of toxic waste into our streams and rivers. The fine for this crime is $2 MILLION dollars, which is nothing compared to the record profits Tyson has reported in the last several years. Who pays for these hidden costs in our food production systems? Who pays for the degradation of our soils, water, and wildlife? WE will all pay for this damage and so much more. Vote with your dollars for production systems that work with Nature, not against her. And, know that mega corporations operate under other brands which may not be readily recognized by their names.
