🐍 “Let’s stop the killing of snakes.” – Arojinle, Researcher, Broadcast Journalist, and Wild Africa ambassador, shares this important message for #WorldSnakeDay today. Snakes are among the most misunderstood animals on the planet. Let’s debunk some common myths 👇 ❌ MYTH: “All snakes are venomous and dangerous.” ✅ FACT: Only 7% of African snake species are dangerously venomous to humans. ❌ MYTH: “Snakes attack humans unprovoked.” ✅ FACT: They are shy by nature and not inherently aggressive. Snakes usually avoid humans and only strike when they feel threatened. ❌ MYTH: “They serve no purpose.” ✅ FACT: Snakes help control rodent populations, serve as prey for other animals, support biodiversity, and play an essential role in healthy ecosystems. Snake populations are declining due to fear-based killing, habitat loss, and poaching. On #WorldSnakeDay, let’s remember Arojinle’s call to stop the killing of snakes and give them some space because protecting nature protects us all. 🐍💚 #WildAfrica #WorldSnakeDay #Arojinle #SnakeConservation

We have all heard of a pride of lions or a herd of buffalo, but did you know there are a few weirder and far wackier words out there for groups of wildlife!? 🐾🤩 Here are five of our favourites that are sure to surprise and amuse you: 🦉 A parliament of owls: A name incredibly suited for these wise and regal birds. Even their postures and stares look like they are ready to judge and debate. 🦏 A crash of rhinos: Steady, strong and surprisingly fast! Even though rhinos are big and bullky, they can still charge at speeds of up to 50 km/h! When rhinos run, they seem unstoppable, which is why they are associated with the idea of a crash. 🐃 A confusion of wildebeest: If you have ever seen wildebeest during their yearly migration, you will know that it is total chaos! It's a miracle that these so-called confused animals arrive at their new destination. 🦇 A cauldron of bats: This strange name describes the swirling fly patterns of bats. It often looks like steam or smoke rising up from a bubbling cauldron. This adds to their mysterious image! 🦓 A dazzle of zebras: Gracious and glorious, when grouping together their stripes can look like abstract art - incredibly striking in the wild. Nature never runs out of ways to make us smile! Which one’s your favourite? Or do you know another fun animal group name? Share it with us below! 🌿 #WildlifeWonders #AnimalFacts #NatureLovers #FunWithWords #FunFacts

Comedian and Wild Africa ambassador COMEDIAN ALI BABA loves meat – but not illegal bushmeat! Eating wild animals like these is not safe or legal: ❌ Pangolins ❌ Monkeys ❌ Crocodiles ❌ Snakes WHY? 📉 Wild animals aren’t meant for the dinner table. Many are vulnerable or endangered, and if we keep catching, killing, and consuming them, they’ll disappear forever. ⚖️ Eating bushmeat is illegal and you can face serious consequences, such as heavy fines and even jail time . ⚠️ Bushmeat poses serious health risks to humans, including the transmission of zoonotic diseases. These illnesses can be life-threatening and public health authorities advise against it. Instead, opt for eating safe and legal meat alternatives like chicken, beef or grasscutters, that will satisfy your tastebuds without harming wildlife. Say NO to illegal bushmeat – protecting nature protects us all. #WildlifeConservation #ProtectWildlife #IllegalBushmeat #EndangeredSpecies #SayNoToBushmeat #WildlifeProtection _ALI_BABA_

🐆 The illegal wildlife trade is threatening cheetah populations in Somaliland. While stronger laws and enforcement in the Middle East have reduced demand for cheetahs, cubs are still being stolen from the wild under the false belief that a market still exists. These cubs, often taken for use as exotic pets or for entertainment, face long, brutal journeys. Most don’t survive the trip, making this a cruel and collapsing trade 💔. According to the Cheetah Conservation Fund, around 300 cubs are illegally captured and smuggled each year from Ethiopia, northern Kenya, Somalia, and Somaliland. Major Zuhuur Fathi Mukhtar of the Somaliland Coast Guard is calling on governments, organizations, and individuals to step up and protect cheetahs and their habitats for generations to come. 🛑 You can help stop the trade by reporting wildlife crime or suspicious activity to the Somaliland Coast Guard: 📞 063 4455000 #WildAfrica #Somaliland #StopWildlifeCrime #CheetahConservation #ProtectWildlife

Often misunderstood and dismissed as ugly, ominous, or pests, vultures are in fact one of the most vital species on our planet. They are nature’s clean-up crew, keeping ecosystems, wildlife, and even humans safe from deadly diseases ♻️❗ 🦅 Arojinle, researcher, broadcast journalist, and Wild Africa ambassador, explains that a lack of knowledge about these birds is the reason many people don’t understand their importance. Vultures are apex scavengers that feast on rotting carcasses in large numbers. Their powerful stomach acids and specialized digestive systems destroy harmful bacteria and microorganisms, preventing disease outbreaks and recycling vital nutrients back into the environment. We shouldn’t kill vultures, we need them! Yet despite their importance, African vulture populations have plummeted by 80–97% in just 50 years. ⚠️ If we lose them, we lose one of nature’s most effective defenses against the spread of disease. On #WorldVultureDay this Saturday, let’s change the way we see these birds. They don’t deserve fear—they deserve protection. 💚 You can help by protecting vulture habitats, reporting wildlife crime, and saying NO to illegal bushmeat. Because once they’re gone, they’re gone. #WildAfrica #VultureDay #Arojinle #BirdlifeConservation
