For rescued elephants, healing goes far beyond medication or simply giving them a space to live. These are deeply social animals who rely on companionship, trust, and emotional connection throughout their lives. That’s why the bond they form with their caregivers is so important. Over time, caregivers become a constant source of comfort and familiarity, understanding each elephant’s personality, routines, and emotions. And in return, the elephants place immense trust in them, looking out for them just as lovingly as they are cared for every single day. In frame: A special moment shared between Pari and her caregiver.

As we post this update, Nina’s keeper is feeding her and she is being comforted by him. She is lying in a comfortable resting position and is snacking on cucumbers. Nina, who has gone through inexpressible horrors all her life, has been amazingly forgiving to humans, and has developed a strong emotional bond with her keeper in a very short time. Our team is at her side day and night to assist whenever she needs them. Our team understands the gravity of the situation and is doing the best to provide Nina with the best medical care. We are overwhelmed with the love and support pouring in from all over the world for Nina. Thank you again for keeping her in your thoughts and prayers.

Moti Update: Moti showed the most progress in terms of his appetite today. He ate about 25 kgs of sugarcane and 25 kgs of fruit. It is far from what an elephant his size would normally consume in a day. However, we are thrilled to see his appetite increasing. Go Moti Go!

The week wasn’t filled with just medical examinations, Veer spent some time in the hydrotherapy pool. Getting the weight off his injured legs while also promoting his circulation is critical to his healing. His first time around the pool, Veer was a bit hesitant, but we’ll patiently wait for him to build his confidence and work up to longer hydrotherapy sessions. Veer’s recovery will require ongoing support from people who care deeply about his future. Will you start a monthly pledge today to help ensure Veer gets the care he needs?

She was made to navigate the city’s crowded streets, her footpads cracked and torn with every painful step. In 2019, everything changed. Moti update: Here's a short video of Moti drinking water on his own (he had about 40 liters of water). He is also receiving fluids through an IV. The inflammation in his right leg reduced by another inch. Next hurdle is to turn him over onto his other side to prevent sores. 🙏
