“now, at least, being outside of the car, i could help the strategy team do the right call with alex and i think we might have just boxed alex at the perfect lap so, at least, i've been useful out of the car too.” team work makes the dream work 💙

carlos asked thea how she got into f1 and it looks like she went through the classic sainz fan experience: “just watched along and then that was it. she chose you.” “there you go. i always knew she was very smart.”

carlos: franco was coming back very quick on us and we managed to keep him behind, playing a bit with blue flags, with the overtake mode... 🗣️: i was surprised when i saw the pace difference with him coming. i definitely thought he was going to pass you! carlos: me too!

You've been Lando's teammate. I don't know if you've seen some of his interviews in the media pen lately. Do you think he's different? Carlos: No. Lando? I see him as a very honest man, maybe a bit too much at times for the criticism he then receives for being honest. He tells the truth, he doesn't have any filters. If he isn't doing well mentally, he says so, but then they criticize him. When the whole world is pushing to have clarity, honesty (about) mental health, we don't speak with such an example. There's a guy who has done an incredible season – because Lando drove very well this year – and he's a bit honest, he shows his weaknesses a bit and gets criticized a lot. All of us in press conferences put on a face, but we all have insecurities inside. All the drivers. And one of us who shows them, gets criticized a lot, so I feel a bit bad for him in that sense.

carlos is hilarious 😭 🗣️: james has said that by 2030 he expects the team to be in a position to fight for the championship. was that what you were told when you signed? carlos: it was more or less. i think we were maybe talking... maybe about ’29, maybe podiums consistently and maybe ’30 to win. i need to remember exactly what he said to me. i need to go back to my notes, eheh. i knew there was not going to be any winning in williams until at least ’28,’29, ’30. it is true that we've just been through a pretty big bump in the road to recovery. i'm committed to try and help the team get out of this bump and do the best we can to recover. i just want to be winning in F1. that's my main message to my management that i want to win in F1 and at the same time try to help williams to get back to the top.”
