Minami talks about people making fun of her dream back then: When you graduate elementary school everyone writes their dream in the yearbook. Since 3rd grade I wanted to be a K-pop idol, so I wrote “My dream is to be a K-pop idol.” Those yearbooks go out to every parent and student. A classmate told their mom, “My friend wants to become a K-pop idol, she wants to be like TWICE… isn’t that absurd?” They talked bad about me and my dream. I was so upset. I was so serious about it. While they were making fun of me I went to dance academy, practiced until late at night, and kept pushing myself. Eventually I made it to Korea and debuted as a K-pop idol. Only then did they realize, “Oh, she was actually serious.” Our school goes from elementary all the way to university on the same campus. When those same classmates were graduating high school, I went back to perform a celebratory graduation stage as a member of RESCENE. Not to rub it in. I just wanted to show them how hard I worked to achieve my dream.

Minami talks on livestream about why her mom cried during Sana's Fridge Interview. She called her mom to ask why she cried during the interview filming. Her mom explained that seeing her two daughters (Minami and RUI) enjoying TWICE's concert from the 2nd floor of Tokyo Dome with Candybongs, and now seeing Minami sitting right in front of Sana having a 1-on-1 conversation, felt so surreal and moving that she couldn't hold back her tears🥹
