Ben Shapiro’s message to young white men is to “get off your ass and go and do the thing”. This message was the right one for a certain type of person 10 years ago when it was coming from Peterson. The problem with Shapiro’s message now is that young white men have in huge numbers gone to college got a job only to find themselves in enormous debt with no prospect of buying a house and a trying to find a partner among a generation of extremely indoctrinated feminist women. He still thinks the problem can be solved by “pull yourselves up by your bootstraps”. The problem is that men did exactly what was asked of them and now find themselves at best working as corporate slaves spending over three quarters of their working hours just to pay off debt and taxes. Not to mention that AI is taking hold which means the graduate jobs simply aren’t there anymore for millions of young people. The system isn’t working and the longer men like Shapiro don’t recognise this the uglier things are going to get.
