When we ran into Jim Kerr earlier I told him we already had our tickets for the OVO Hydro for May next year and he laughed and said "gluttons for punishment" (in the nicest way). What he doesn't know is that I grew up listening to Simple Minds. Drew their logo on my homework books in high school. Can place certain songs with certain milestones in my life. Been to probably 6 or 7 gigs. Been to many gigs in my life and Simple Minds have been some of the best. They are in my top 4 fave bands (Pink Floyd, Manic Street Preachers and Big Country being the others). Was just nice to say "thanks, nice to meet you" have a few minutes of banter. He asked me where I was from. I said Northern Ireland. He said he has roots in Strabane. He said "Nice to meet you pal" as we shook hands and we joked about hurting after last night's gig. My poor wife didn't believe I would have the balls to say Hi but she was delighted to meet him too, being a Glasgow girl. They say never meet your heroes, but I have been lucky to meet Simple Minds, Big Country and the Manics and they were all super polite, friendly and funny. Also, Charlie Burchill properly smiled when I told him how much we enjoyed last nights gig. Feel free to rate this tweet out of 10 on the gay scale 🤗
