OTD 2001 Wrexham 3-3 Oldham Athletic 25 years ago today saw a six-goal thriller in the opening game of the League One season. 19 year old left back Shaun Holmes made his first team debut for Wrexham. The Latics brought around 1,700 fans which added to the great atmosphere. Mark Allott put the visitors ahead at the break, before three quickfire second half goals from Dennis Lawrence, Carlos Edwards and Craig Faulconbridge looked to have won it for the Reds. A great David Eyres strike and a last minute Carlo Corazzin equaliser rescued a point for the visitors. #WxmAFC #OAFC

OTD 1999 Cardiff City 1-1 Wrexham 27 years ago tonight, a Friday night League One game under the lights at Ninian Park. Cardiff had been promoted the previous season and this was our first league visit there in five years. A great crowd saw The Bluebirds take the lead through a Jason Bowen close range header just before the break. Ian Stevens equalised ten minutes after half time with a wonderful acrobatic finish. Gaz Owen 🏴 was sent off on 67 minutes but Wrexham held on for a point. Both goals were passionately celebrated! #WxmAFC #CCFC

Steven Fletcher is the only player not called Paul Mullin to score a hat-trick for Wrexham under Phil Parkinson. This was in the game against Barrow on New Year’s Day 2024. On Fletch’s 400th appearance in English league football, this was his first ever hat-trick at club level.
