OTD 2001 Wrexham 3-3 Oldham Athletic 25 years ago today saw a six-goal thriller in the opening game of the League One season. 19 year old left back Shaun Holmes made his first team debut for Wrexham. The Latics brought around 1,700 fans which added to the great atmosphere. Mark Allott put the visitors ahead at the break, before three quickfire second half goals from Dennis Lawrence, Carlos Edwards and Craig Faulconbridge looked to have won it for the Reds. A great David Eyres strike and a last minute Carlo Corazzin equaliser rescued a point for the visitors. #WxmAFC #OAFC

OTD 2023 Just 3 years ago today, a huge game away at Barnet in the National League. A nervy match ended 0-0 and at the end, Phil Parkinson confronted Bees keeper Laurie Walker. Parky felt he conned the ref in helping to get Wrexham’s Callum McFadzean sent off after 51 minutes.

OTD 2011 Mansfield Town 2-3 Wrexham 15 years ago today saw our third successive win at Field Mill. Pogba put us in front before we went 2-1 down before the break. A header into the box from Mark Creighton saw a bandaged Andy Morrell equalise and a late beaut from Harris won it!

OTD 2015 Wrexham 2-2 Tranmere Rovers 10 years ago tonight, our first game with Tranmere in over 10 years, who brought a good following. Robbie Evans struck to give us the lead, but Lois Maynard and Andy Mangan put TRFC ahead. 18 year old Joe Quigley grabbed a late equaliser.

Steven Fletcher is the only player not called Paul Mullin to score a hat-trick for Wrexham under Phil Parkinson. This was in the game against Barrow on New Year’s Day 2024. On Fletch’s 400th appearance in English league football, this was his first ever hat-trick at club level.

OTD 1927 Wales 3-3 England The Racecourse, Wrexham This wonderful footage from 98 years ago shows players emerging from The Turf - used as the changing rooms. 20yo Dixie Dean was making his England debut and scored twice. Wales replied through Len Davies (2) and Wilf Lewis.
