Bamburgh has been a fortress ever since King Ida built his stronghold here in AD 547. 🏰 Over 1,400 years of history stand on this rock. If this place isn’t impressive, then idk what is. England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

In 1967 this was the world's tallest statue. The Motherland Calls is a colossal WWII memorial in Volgograd, Russia, on the hill of Mamayev Kurgan — the site of the Battle of Stalingrad.

The Romans built this villa in the early 4th century, probably for a very high‑ranking official, maybe even an emperor. Every corridor, every room, every bath, every reception hall was covered in mosaics. What’s even more impressive is how it survived. The villa was buried under mud after a massive landslide in the Middle Ages, and that disaster ended up being its protection. The roof collapsed, the walls fell, but the mosaics stayed sealed under layers of earth for centuries, untouched by weather, war, or looters. When archaeologists finally uncovered it in the 20th century, they found the largest collection of Roman mosaics anywhere...more than 3,500 square meters of them!

Westward, launched in 1910, was the largest yacht ever built under the 1908 International Rule. 135 feet from bow to stern. She had an incredible life on the water, dominating races on both sides of the Atlantic. But her story ended in 1947 when she was scuttled in the English Channel per her final owner's wishes. She still holds the title. The 1908 Rule was retired long ago, so Westward remains the largest yacht ever built to it. Nothing of the original survives today.

Start your day with beauty. Just outside Frankfurt, there's a town that feels lifted from an old tale. Timbered houses, quiet lanes, and a gentle kind of charm... a dream✨ 📍Idstein, Germany 🇩🇪 Happy Friday.

Westward remains the largest yacht ever built to the 1908 International Rule but another absolute legend from the same golden era is the 1911 Mariquita. This stunning 125 ft (38 m) 19-Metre Class gaff cutter is the sole survivor of her class, beautifully restored and still racing in classic regattas today.

And here are the first images from the Louvre heist — inside the Apollo Gallery, where it all took place. A man dressed as a construction worker breaks open a display case. Museum visitors walk by, unaware that a robbery is unfolding right beside them. How does something so brazen happen in one of the most secure museums in the world?

POV: You witness a ship that survived 333 years beneath the sea. ⚓ The best-preserved 17th-century warship in the world. The story of Vasa makes you wonder what else might still be out there, like lost ships, forgotten cargo, whole pieces of history resting quietly on the seabed. Vasa went down in 1628 and came back almost untouched, preserved by the cold, low‑salinity waters of the Baltic Sea. When divers found it in the 1950s, the hull was almost entirely intact, the carvings still sharp, the timbers still holding their shape.
